While doing +2 you can take any group.if you are interested in biology you can choose that, but this group is not a must.now a days everyone are taking the group maths biology and creating a fear that this group is the best group for anything this is just a rumor by people those who don't know anything.second group or third group will do.in my view I think that third group is the best.the only difficulty in choosing this is no full mark in commerce no value .after that you can go for any arts college group.side by side you can prefer I.A.S coaching.if you have a longing desire to study anything other than that surely you can study. But in my view engineering and medicine are utter waste for I.A.S.You can go for Law.

Re: Which is the best course in Degree for IAS study?

well it does not matter in which stream you are as everyone is eligible for IAS which has done graduation .

The minimum eligibility criteria required for a candidate to appear in civil service examination is as follows.

You must have done your graduation in any streams .There is no percentage bar
You must be between 21 to 30 years and there is some relaxation given to reserved caste students

But if you are confirm that you only want to do IAS then ARTS stream will be best for you as then you can prepare from 11th only as the ARTS STREAM IS easiest of all streams .So it mean that then you can give more time to extra activity .Start study news papers and articles from now onwards. There will be less tensions in academics so that you can concentrate more on your goal in the same way.

If you want to do IAS then go for the 3 year degree not for the 4 or 4 year degree like in Btech and MBBS and other degree .

Exam Pattern ::

In the first stage also call preliminary exam there will be two compulsory papers. The first paper will be based on general studies and the second paper will be deigned to check the individual aptitude for civil service. This paper is also called as CSAT exam. This is same for all and there is no optional subjects in it .

Main exam consists of total 9 papers out of which 4 papers are on two optional papers .That means that two papers of each optional papers and rest of 5 papers are same for all students

This is not at all a problem friend you can do any degree as you wish. There is no compulsion to do Degree from a particular stream.

The minimum eligibility criteria required for a candidate to appear in civil service examination is as follows.

->He/She has to complete 21 years of age.
->Should obtain a degree certificate while applying for Civil Service examination.

There is no rule that saying the students from a particular stream are only eligible. All the students who completes their degree in a recognized indian university are eligible to appear in Civil service examination.

For time being according to my view a course which gets completed in less time is good so that you will find time to prepare for civils for example.

if you do 12th MEC or HEC other MPC or BiPC there will be less tensions in academics so that you can concentrate more on your goal in the same way.

if you do B.A or BBA you will feel comfortable to think about Civils goal other than taking B.Tech or B.Sc

Time is also important if you do normal degree course you will take 3 years of time but if you do B.tech or MBBS then it will take 4 to 5 years to get the certificate.

So thinking about all these factors select a best choice in which you are interested finally I want to say it again that all the students are eligible for Civils service examination.

All the best for your future

dear friend,
for giving the ias exan, you can do graduation in any field of your choice because before giving the exam, you wil have to select the subjects for which you want to give the exam.
the qualifications for the exam are
for giving ias exam, the student must have done graduation in any field with at least 60% marks. the age limit for the exam is 21 to 30 years which can increase to 35 years for sc/st students.
if you are having these qualifications, then only you can give the exam.
there will be three rounds in the exam. firstly, you will have to give the preliminary exam. this exam will be of objective questions.
after qualifying in that exam, you will have to give the main exam, which will be in written form.
after passing both the exams, you will be called for the personal interview.
after passing that interview, you will become an ias officer.
the notification regarding the exam comes in the employment news.
for more details regarding the exam, you can visit

Re: Which is the best course in Degree for IAS study?

Hello friend,
There is no such particular stream which is considered the most appropriate for civil service exam. As you can see in the last year results, the maximum number of candidates selected for IAS were holding professional courses but that doesn't means that you have to pursue a professional course to succeed in civil service exam. You just need to be focused and have to prepare separately for the civil service exam, no matter which stream you belong to.
As you know that the civil service exam will comprise of three stages:
Civil Service Aptitude Test, Main Exam and Interview

In the first stage, there will be two compulsory papers. The first paper will be based on general studies and the second paper will be deigned to check the individual aptitude for civil service.

The pattern of the main exam has remain unchanged and therefore it will comprise of both compulsory and optional papers.
