Re: Can I give GATE test in 7th semester of BS(Hons)?

GATE stands for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

This entrance exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology for selection of candidates for master's degree in technology from top reputed institutes like IIT, NIT, government and private engineering colleges.

Eligibility criteria:

Any candidate who has done bachelor's degree in engineering or technology can appear for this exam. Even in final year of engineering you can apply for the exam.

Those who are in final year of bachelor's degree in science of four years duration are also eligible for the exam. So you are eligible to appear for the exam.

You can see the eligibility criteria for GATE 2015 at http://gate.iitk.ac.in/GATE2015/eligibilty_link.php.

GATE is an online test of marks consisting of 65 questions containing one mark and two marks questions with negative marking of one third for each incorrect answer.

Nowadays your scorecard in GATE exam has become one of the important criteria for getting jobs in Public Sector Undertakings like BHEL, SAIL, GAIL, ONGC etc.
