Re: How can I become an IAS officer after completing 12th?

You are thinking about to do IAS(Civil Services) entrance examination after the completion of 12th standard. But sorry to say this is not possible yet to fulfil your ambition you can follow following steps to become an IAS Officer.

i)You are to complete Graduate degree from the Recognized University/Institution having minimum pass marks.

ll)Your age should be within 31 years to 32, and for OBC,S/C S/T 35,37 years' respectively.

iii)Your Nationality must be Indian.

iv) Attempts: General: 6 attempts, OBC: 9 attempts, S/C S/T: No limit.

To get selection you are to clear UPSC conducted preliminary/Written/interview tests.

To become an IAS officer you have to be graduate in any disicipline. To become an IAS officer you have to apply for the civil service examination. This examination is conducted by the UPSC every year. The eligibility required for the civil service examination is given below:

Education Qualification
For the civil service a examination a candidate should be graduate in any discipline from the recognized university. Those appeared in the final year examination are also eligible to apply for the civil service examination

Age Limit
Candidate age should be between 21 to 30 years.
5years relaxation in age will be given to SC/ST candidates
3 Years relaxation in age will be given to OBC candidates.

Civil service examination is basically conducted in two stage i.e Pre and then Mains. Those who get cleared the preliminary examination will be called for the mains examination. Candidates successfully qualified in the mains will be called for the Interviews.
Preliminary examination is basically a objective type paper and mains is subjective.

Yes what you heard is right. You should be a graduate before applying to IAS exam. You said that you are studying physiotherapy. Is it a diploma course? If yes it wouldn't help you to make eligible for the exam.

You definitely need to have a valid graduation degree from a UGC recognized university. No problem as you are about to complete your physiotherapy course. If you are keen to participate in IAS exam then go for a degree from a recognized university based on your academic background and then make yourself eligible for IAS exam.

The main tasks in front of you is identifying a bachelors degree course related to your field. Because UPSC don't need any specific branch to be eligible any graduate from any discipline is/are eligible for the examination.

Pursue a course which will also help in preparation. Because then you won't have double work in studying both diverse streams. Graduation and Optional preparation. Make it simpler by choosing a course which makes your optional preparation easier.

Note this point only valid graduates are eligible for IAS exam. Nonetheless you have ample time to make yourself eligible. If you aren't yet.

Once go through a notification of UPSC civil services so that you can be clear enough as your ultimate goal is to make into civil services. Please click here to view the latest notification in your preferred language.

Fine, I would like to conclude this post wishing you all the best for your future endeavors.

Aditya
