Re: Am I eligible for UPSC IAS 2016?

Indian Administrative Services is one of the Civil Services of Indian government. Every year lakhs of candidates apply for the Civil Services examination to become IAS, IPS, IRS officers.

But before applying for the exam, you must ensure whether you are eligible for the exam or not. The age limit for open category candidates is 21-32 years and upper age limit for reserved category candidates is 35 years for OBC, 37 years for SC/ST candidates.

So, you can see that your age is between 34 years and 35 years. Being a general category you have no chance. However you have not mentioned your category, if you belong to OBC or SC/ST then you are eligible for the exam.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service and to become an IAS officer which is the highest civilian job in the administrative field one has to clear the Civil Services examination held once every year by Union Public Service Commission.

The eligibility criteria of Civil Services examination are as following :-

--> You must have the nationality of India.

--> Your age must be within 21 years to 30 years if you are a general candidate as there is provision of age relaxation of 3 years, 5 years and 10 years for the OBC, SC/ST and PH candidates respectively as per the government norms.

Re: Am I eligible for UPSC IAS 2016?

As per your date of birth which is 02/06/1981, you will be 34 years and 10 months in May of 2016, the notification for Civil Services examination is out in May of every year. The upper age limit for candidates of different category is:

1. General: 32 years.

2. OBC: 35 years.

3. SC/ST candidates: 37 years.

So you can only apply for the Civil Services exam if you belong to OBC or SC/ST category. Keep in mind that if you are OBC candidate you have only last attempt left as your age will be over.

Re: Am I eligible for UPSC IAS 2016?

Yes absolutely you are eligible to apply for IAS Exam through UPSC. Since being a PWD candidate you are absolutely eligible to apply for IAS Exan. And one more thing you are allowed only when you select the PWD during the application form.

With out PWD Certification you are not eligible to apply for IAS Examination. More over you have completed 3 attempts already. So from now onwards you have to be very careful at the time of application process.

Since you are applied with the age relaxation only. With out age relaxation you are not eligible to apply for IAS Exams.

For better information you need to see the Notification from the Official website of UPSC.

Re: Am I eligible for UPSC IAS 2016?

# After going through your query I came to know that you are physically handicapped and already appeared in UPSC IAS Examination three times.

# Now you have consumed your three attempts.

# Note that you are still eligible for UPSC IAS Examination. Being "Person with Disability" you can apply for UPSC IAS Examination up to the age of 40 years.

# Now you still left with one attempt. You can utilize this single and last attempt now.

# Now you are required to keep yourself calm and mentally prepared with positive approach and practical strategy. You are required to put extra effort in your preparation in order to succeed in this throat-cut competition.

# Try to find out the reasons or shortcomings in failure during last three attempts. Try to work more on shortcomings during your last three attempts.

# Proper utilization of time is most important in this regard. Speed with accuracy while solving question paper is the key to success. So solve more and more question papers (old & model) daily.

# Keep making notes on subjects which are difficult for you in order to make revision before the examination.

# Importance of revision of syllabus cannot be ignored. You should revise the syllabus on daily basis, weekly basis and monthly basis. As regular and daily revision of syllabus helps in followings:
* Boost your confidence.
* Easily grasping and retention of syllabus.
* Helps from fear of examination.
* Helps in increasing the speed of solving question paper
