To become DSP, you need to clear the civil service exam.
Civil service exams are conducted once in every year. There are 3 stages in the civil service exams i.e., preliminary, mains and personal interview. The eligibility requirements and exam pattern are mentioned below in detail.

Eligibility criteria:
- The candidate should be a citizen of India.
- The educational qualification required is a bachelors/ graduation level degree in any stream from any recognised university.
- The age should be between 21 - 30 years. There is 3 years age relaxation for the OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ ST candidates.

The exam pattern for the preliminary includes:
- This is an objective type question paper.
- There are 2 papers in the prelims each paper consist of 200 marks.
- The syllabus for the exam is General Studies and General Aptitude.

The exam pattern for the mains includes:
- This is an objective type of question paper.
- There are 7 papers in the mains each paper consists of 300 marks.
- The syllabus for the exam includes optional subject, General Studies and Hindi.

The personal interview consists of 250 marks.

Based on your mains and personal interview score you’ll be recruited in police department.
