Its a great opportunity for you that your examination as The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts this examination every year Income Tax Officer Exam is conducted by SSC to recruit the Income Tax Officer. However,there are some Eligibility criteria such as: 1.Qualification: a)you should have any degree of a recognized University, or equivalent. as you have done graduation in B.Com ,so you are positively eligible. 2.Age: a:Your age should not be not less than 18 years and not greater than 27 years on the first July of the year of examination b) The age limit for the posts of Inspector of Income Tax, is 18-27 years as on March 2011 3.Physical Standards (Minimum) a)Height :157.5cm b)Chest :81cm ,fully expanded with a minimum expansion of 5 cm c)Physical Test: i)Walking:1600 meters in 15 minutes ii)Cycling:8 Km in 30 minutes 4.Application form: a)Application form will be available from February every year at SSC official website at http://www.ssconline.nic.in. 5.Selection Procedure: a)There will be a Written Examination of all objective type questions. b)Then an Personal Interview for for qualified students in the Written Test. 6.Syllabus: a)General Intelligence:It consists of your ability of reasoning ,how much you can analysis a problem. b)General English: It consists English Language and will be based on error recognition, fill in the blanks using verbs, preposition, articles etc, vocabulary, spellings, Grammar, sentence-structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, sentence completion, phrases and idiomatic use of words etc c)Arithmetical Ability: It consists of problems relating to number systems, Computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions,percentages, ratio and proportions, averages, interest, profit & loss, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time & distance, ratio and time etc d)General Awareness: It consists of the general awareness of the environment around you and its application to society, knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect . Re: How can I become an Income Tax Officer? What are the steps required for it? There are two options - 1. Appear for the Civil Services Examination conducted by UPSC. The exam selects candidates for senior positions in various Government Departments including Income tax (IRS). The usual place for such candidates is Asst. Commissioner of Income Tax. 2. Appear in the Combined Graduate level examination conducted by Staff Selection Commission (next one in December, 2009) and get selected for Income Tax Inspector, on promotion one can become ITO. To become a INCOME TAX OFFICER, then you have to appear the exams conducted by UPSC. This exams is held generally once a year for the post of Sub-Inspectors of Police in Central Bureau of Investigation and the application forms and other particulars are published in the Employment News in the month of October. Those candidate have completed graduation degree from recognized university are eligible for INCOME TAX OFFICER exam. To become Income Tax officer you have to pass the Civil Services Exam conducted by the Union Public. Also your age should be in between 18 years to 27 years. The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. There are two ways to become an Officer in this field- 1) Through Civil Service Exam: It all depends on your ranking and scores. With a very healthy score you may get a high ranking post like- "Assistant Commissioner". 2) Through Staff Selection Commission (SSC): It consists of a Written Test and an Interview. Income Tax Officer as the name itself indicates is an officer who deals with the income tax related matters of the Central Board of Direct Taxes acronym of CBDT, a department of central government in India. ITO as the income tax Officer is commonly known, is one of the feared name in India as there are so many defaulter of income tax in our country. It is the responsibility of the ITO’s to hunt for those defaulters and bring them to the notice of the department so that they can be compelled to pay their tax according to their real income. As income tax is one of the important source of the income that the government has to spend on the developmental works there fore it become important that the tax could be properly collected so that the developmental works of the government could be continued properly. But to do this work is not a easy task as some time they have to deal with high profile people like politician, public figure, etc. There fore this job is considered a tough job and this makes it a high profile career. But to discharge his duties one has to be very brave, hardworking, honest as well as tactful as he has to deal with so many high profile people that may use their influence in high echelons to save themselves and in turn prove the officer wrong or impartial. This is a job of person with fire in them but that should be controlled by them selves and should be used as and when required during their raids and investigation judicially. To be an ITO one has to undergo a selection process of written and oral exams conducted by Staff Selection Commission so that only the competent among the aspirants could be selected. . Eligibility to be an Income Tax Officer 1. Educational Qualification To be eligible for becoming an Income Tax Officer one should hold a Bachelor's degree of any stream. 2. Age The candidate must have attained the age of 18 years on 1st July of the year of examination and must not have attained 27 years of age on that date. The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. The upper age limit is also relaxed in favor of certain categories of employees working under the Government of India and Defense Services Personnel. Process to become an Income Tax Officer To be an ITO officer one has to follow the below given steps:- Step 1 As a first step the aspirant has to procure the “Application Form” along with required information from the employment newspaper generally published in the month of April. sent the filled Application form to the regional centers as mentioned. Note:- The notification for the examination with relevant details regarding rules and syllabus is published in the month of April in the 'Employment News' / 'Rozgar Samachar' , 'Gazette of India', and in some leading Newspapers of the country. |
