There are no such measures to find the specific board that guarantees as the best for your child.
All boards vary for different reasons. To arrive at one decision, I have an experience of teaching students from CBSE board schools in Amravati, and would like to say that CBSE boards are doing great in last two decades. It has spread its branches nationally and internationally.

The students passed 10th grade from CBSE board schools also finds easier to prepare them for competitive exam.

Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

I think from my view of thinking I would prefer for GSEB . It's not like that CBSE and ICSE are not good for education , they are the best. But the board CBSE came newly. Earlier times there were no boards like CBSE or ICSE . Then also people succeed in their lives. At first there was only GSEB board. And also the CBSE has a large amount of fees . So the children who want to study in CBSE cannot afford the fees. The same goes for ICSE. So I prefer GSEB.

Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

Gseb nowadays has a MCQ type paper in 2 semesters and half-McQ-half-written paper in the other 2 semesters...therefore a kid has more exposure to solving such questions and learning techniqes like cancelling the odd options(these type of questions are asked in competitve exams)...also gujarat government has (like other state governments) provision for extra seats in engineering, medical, dental, pharmacy, etc....but if the child is opting state board AFTER THE SSC, then I recommend him to stay in touch with ncert books as well (biology and chemistry)

Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

I think the selection for the board for the education of our child.....we must also go through the environment of our surroundings....
Our Family environment........society.....for example is all friends of our child are studding in gujarat board and our child is studding in CBSE than they should not synchronized . coz it affects more... when he/she wants to spend time.. play ... activity with friends its not become possible .... exam schedule for both board is vastly differ.....and it is the most important part of development of child..... pls take care not to make your child a well trained robot...or machine.....try to make him a best human being ..... give him more space... more time .... give him time to enjoy his childhood......naturally.....

Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

Firstly hats off to you for your patience in answering and dedicated interest in the parents ' problems.
Have gone through your entire blog in detail and many of my doubts have already been cleared. Still to confirm my understanding, I would like to discuss my matter with you.
We are based in Ahmedabad. My son is currently in Grade 8 in ICSE board. He is interested in taking up Medicine as his career, preferably in Ahmedabad, at the least in Gujarat. Going out of state is last choice.
As you might be aware, in Gujarat, the admission quota for ICSE is about 1%, CBSE is 10% and rest for SSE. Also, the Gujarat state board has not yet adopted the national common curriculum. The common entrance for medical ( NEET ) is yet to come or may not even be implemented in many years to come. There is till 40 % weightage on GUJCET which is based on state board curriculum.
So concerning medicine, CBSE are at a disadvantage compared to SSE and ISCE are worst off. Regarding the payment seats also, the SSE students rank ahead in merit followed by CBSE and then ICSE because of differences in marking.
So my doubts are :
1) Inspite of studying in a fabulous school right now, is it not advisable to change the board and opt for State board to get a better opportunity of admission ?
2) What should be correct time to change -- from 9th to allow time for adjustment before boards begin or only from 11th when the evaluations and marks really matter ?
3) Inspite of this scenario for medicine, many of the state board schools here are now converting to CBSE board. Any explanations on this would be welcome.

Thanks in advance

Respectd sir,
I am studing in 12th Gujarat Board. I did not get good marks in the 11th science of two semesters. I am getting worried in taking an admission into MBBS course, as all the four semester marks will be counted alongwith GUJCET. If I change board from GSEB to CBSE, THAN ONLY 12TH STANDARD PERCENTAGE WILL BE COUNTED ALOGWITH THE GUJCET. Sir, pl give the reply wether I may change the board GSEB to CBSE inthis year only. Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

Sir,

Almost all boards are good. There is no doubt. But if a student is going to pursue higher studies like B.Tech from IITs, NITs, IIITs and other deemed institutions. Then, he must study from CBSE or ICSE board. Because, almost syllabus of these board matches with IIT-JEE syllabus.

To get admission in prestigious institutions of India, a candidate has to give IIT-JEE, AIEEE and other entrance exams.

So, I think you should go with CBSE or ICSE board.

Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

Dear Candidate,

You should not confuse yourself between the 3 boards. State board will help you in getting jobs in that particular state but the CBSE is a central board so you will be getting jobs throughout the country on the basis of that. The same applies for the selection in colleges around the country.

The only reason to prefer the state board is according to the following statistics:

Total no of students who gave the CBSE Std XII Exams were 7,70,000 in 2011.

You can refer to:

http://cbse.nic.in/PRE%20EXAM%20PRESS%20NOTE%202011.pdf

There is a 10% increase every year so the year 2012 will have 8,50,000 students, i.e. 30,000 per state on an average for

both streams together, out of which students opting for Medical would be approximately 30% or 10000.

On the other hand:

Total Gujarat Board students appearing in 2012 for Class 12th Exams were 1,12,000 out of which biology stream students were

approximately 26,000. Total No of seats in medical in Gujarat are 1900 out of which 50% are reserved.
So approximately 1000 seats are open for merit, out of which 100 (10%) is reserved for CBSE quota.

Probability for CBSE vs Guj Board student to get admission in Medical is as follows:

Assuming % students passing in both boards are nearly equal (@ 70%)

CBSE: 100/9000*100 = 1.1%
Guj Board: 900/26000*100 = 3.5%

Thus, Guj Board student has 3.5 times better chance to get admission in MBBS compared to CBSE student

.

Best of Luck...!!!

Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

Hi dear,

-> GSEB ( Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board ) cannot be compared with CBSE ( Central Board of Secondary Education ) or ICSE ( Indian Certificate of Secondary Education ) because GSEB is state board while CBSE and ICSE comes in Central Board..

-> If you prefer to for Gujarati language to be studied by your child and wants to be raise that way then GSEB board will be good...

-> And off-course CBSE and ICSE is a better board when compared with GSEB because the syllabus are quite advanced and tough which helps to gain more knowledge.

-> The difference between CBSE and ICSE are as follows.. The medium of instruction can be selected in CBSE between English and Hindi while in ICSE board it's only English...

-> CBSE is recognized by the Indian Government and ICSE is not recognized, but the certificates provided by the both the board are valid world-wide.

-> The syllabus for CBSE is more suitable for qualifying various entrance exam exam including medical and engineering exam but ICSE is more detailed and need lot of extra hard work...

-> In ICSE board the internal assessments are more when compared with CBSE which again needs lot of hard work..

-> As a whole CBSE and ICSE board both are good, but it's your choice to look after the constraints and go for the one which will be suitable for your child.. am sure your child will have a great future ahead for having you..

Thanks

Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

it is better to choose cbse as most of the competetive exams will have syllabus of this board only.
the certificate provided by cbse is valid everywhere.
here the concepts are a bit tough compared to any state board as they provide complete information about the topic.

coming to icse it as also a good choice. in icse also we have curriculum almost comparable with cbse but comparitively cbse is more suitable for any competetive exam than icse.

state boards are easy and it is not that suitable for competetive exams like iit jee ,aieee, afme etc

so, it is best to choose cbse.

Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

The three boards have their own positives and negatives. The states boards are usually considered as easy ones for the students to study. If you want to give your child a state focused education, then yes GSEB will be better than CBSE and ICSE. CBSE is national board. The advantage of studying in a CBSE school is that the child gets a wider perspective of education. The same syllabus is followed in all the CBSE schools, so you child can compete with the rest of the crowd. CBSE syllabus gives the student appropriate knowledge required for them to compete with the rest of the students in state and national level competitions. ICSE is considered as the toughest of the lot. Its mode of operation is all the same as the CBSE schools. The major difference is in their syllabus. ICSE syllabus equips the students to go in depth in what ever they learn. So if you are comparing the 3, if you need you child to have a good in depth knowledge, then choose ICSE. If you want you child to have the knowledge as well the easiness to study and pick up then it is CBSE that you have to choose.

Re: Which board is good for a student, GSEB, CBSE or ICSE?

Hello friend .....

GSEB is the state level board of the Gujarat state
While CBSE and the ICSE are both the central board of India recognized all over India .

All the board are equally good at their own place .
If you want your child to learn the Gujarati language then you can make him or her study from the GSEB board ....

The CBSE board is both in the hindi and english while ICSE board is only in the English language ..
The CBSE board is recognized by the government of India ....

So according to me CBSE board is the best to be studies because it is accepted all over India and also student studying through this board gain more knowledge as their syllabus is designed in such a way ....

Whatever be the board but you must know that your child must be educated in such a way that he can learn all the education that will help him anywhere in the world.

You should select the school which you like this time. You can change the school or board any time before class 9. Right now you have more than 8 years to decide which board is better for your child.

I don't think after 12 years from today when your child will complete school eduction, she will be getting admission in only and only medical or engineering collage. He/She may have lots of other options.

Do whatever is convenient to you right now. Career prospects are changing rapidly. He/She may not have to depend on reserved seats in Gujrat state engineering / medical collages.
