To apply for merchant navy , You should have minimum qualification of bachelor's degree. Merchant Navy Eligibility Education Qualification - You should have passed 12th with at least 60% marks in aggregate & studied physics , chemistry and maths as a compulsory subjects. - You should have English subjects at 10th & 12th & secured at least 60% marks. - You should have passed bachelor's degree in any stream with at least 60% for deck cadre , bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering for engineering officer cadre and bachelor's degree in electrical engineering for electrical officer cadre. Age Limit - Deck Officer Cadre : 17-25 years. - Engineering Officer & Electrical Officer Cadre : Less than 28 years - You should be physically fit & Eyesight of 6/6 and Normal color vision. Steps to Join Merchant Navy - Apply for one of the shipping companies. - If selected , You will get pre-sea training for a one year. After that , You have to complete apprenticeship on board for a period of 18 months. - After completion of these , You are eligible to write exam conducted by DGS. - If qualified , You will get posting as a third engineer in deck officer cadre or as a junior engineer in engineering officer cadre. - After serving 18 months , You can apply for promotion channel exam to become eligible for promotion. The minimum age required to join Merchant Navy is 16 years. The maximum age of candidate not be greater than 25 years. The Candidates who want to join the Merchant Navy, they must have to appear in the All India Merchant Navy Entrance Test is conducted by Bharat Shipping Limited. OTHER ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 1. Whether a 16 years old can join Merchant Navy after passing 12th? My brother hearty wants to join Merchant Navy, but he is 16 years old and going to pass 12th in 2017 of march. So, can he join merchant navy or not? |
