Look you need to explain in details like which university and what norms involved, because pass criteria depends from university to university, but as far as I know you need to acquire minimum marks in a year or semester to not repeat an year, if you get a marks lower than the combined marks of 2 semester then you might have to repeat the year. But most universities are lenient in passing of a student in the last year.

So, just pay a visit to the registrars office of the university to know in details regarding the passing criteria and request for an remedial solution not to repeat an year.

No need to appear for an entire year.

You have to just appear for the subjects in which you are failed in the last semester.

Those subjects will be considered backlogs papers.

You will have to fill backlog form from the institute or university for those subjects.

Subsequently, appear for those backlog subjects with good preparation so that you can clear 8th semester with good marks.

I failed at my last semester of my last year.. I wanted to know if I have to repeat last year or only semester and when can I give exam.
