Re: Options in Army after 12th standard to become an engineer?

Hello Akshay
If you want to join Army you can also join it after your Engineering. I am giving you a link where you would find all the modes of entries through which you can join Indian Army.

http://indianarmy.nic.in/Site/FormTemplete/frmTempSimpleWithTwoPara.aspx?MnId=3os6Fagei78=&Pa rentID=LwoZAzlgsAg=

Secondly, if you want to invent new weapons for Army then you have to join organizations like DRDO and ISRO. These two organizations invent weapons for Indian Army, Indian Airforce and Indian Army.

If you have completed your 12th standard course with maths, physics and chemistry subjects.

You have option, that you get job in Indian Army,as well as you can do engineering course.

For that, you have to appear for NDA exam,if you qualify in that exam.you will have interview for 5days.If you sustain for that interview, then your are near to your aim accomplishment.

About NDA notification:

NDA exam is part of UPSC exam.NDA exam will be releasing twice in a year.so they treat as NDA-I and NDA-II.

NDA-I exam notification will be releasing in the month of October every year.
NDA-II exam notification will be releasing in the month of April every year.

So you have chance to apply for NDA-II exam,so apply soon.......

To apply online visit official website:

http://www.upsc.gov.in

For more details, check this attachment,it contains NDA-II notification of 2011

Re: Options in Army after 12th standard to become an engineer?

Hello Akshay !

It's great that you want to do something for the country by joining the Indian army .
There are two ways of joining the Indian army :

1.Through NDA (qualification : 10+2)
2.Through CDSE(qualification : Graduation)

Since you are in 12th right now you can appear for the NDA exam .For details please check the attachment with this post .

One thing which you should note over here is that to create new weapons you don't have to join the Indian army as there they will teach you how to use the weapons but not to create the weapons !

For creating new weapons, one has to join DRDO(DEFENCE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION) .So you should do engineering from a good college & then join DRDO.Try to get admission in IIT as from there DRDO directly take students sometimes .

For your information i am giving here the details of how to join DRDO .
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are mainly three ways to join DRDO for enginering students

(A)Off Campus(through entrance test and Interviews)

Scientist Entry Test (SET)

RAC advertises through DRDO Website (www.drdo.com & rac.drdo.in) & "The Employment News" (with curtain raiser) for Direct Recruitment of Scientists 'B'. The prescribed Essential Qualification as mentioned in the advertisement any bare minimum and mere possession of same do not entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large, it is not possible to interview all the candidates. RAC may, therefore, restrict the number of candidates for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications/experience/ achievements higher than that of the minimum prescribed in the advertisement or by conducting a screening test named DRDO Scientists Entry Test (DRDO SET).

DRDO SET is conducted on all India basis on 1st Sunday of September every year in order to provide equal opportunity to all students from different educational institutions in view of the increasingly wide variation in the marking pattern of different educational institutions in the country. DRDO SET exam is of three hours duration consisting of two sections viz. Section 'A' of 100 questions to test the candidate's knowledge in the subject of their BE/ BTech (for Engg discipline) or MSc ( for Science Discipline) and Section 'B' of 50 questions to test the candidate's ability in analytical and qualitative skills, current affairs and general awareness to test the aptitude and scientific knowledge required for Applied Research & Development. Based on the organisation's requirements, DRDO SET is conducted in Engineering Subjects such as Aero, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Computer, Electronics/Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Metallurgy etc and Science subjects such as Chemistry, Physics and Maths/ Operations Research/ Statistics etc. These subjects are specified in the advertisement. DRDO SET exam is conducted only for those subjects where vacancies are sizable in number. Details of eligible candidates, examination schedule, result of the exam, schedule of interviews and list of selected candidates are made available from time to time on DRDO website http://www.drdo.com

In cases, where very few vacancies are available, NO SET exam is conducted and the individuals after shortlisting are directly called for the interview. The advertisement generally appears during the month of April / May every year.

(B) Through Campus Selection

RAC is under process of induction of scientists in DRDO and ADA through Campus Selections for 82 positions (DRDO: 50, ADA: 32) from five engineering disciplines (Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Automobile) from reputed academic institutions viz. IITs, NITs, IISc Bangalore, ISM Dhanbad, IT BHU and Engineering Colleges under Central Universities etc.

Talent Search from reputed Institutions (Campus Selection Scheme for Indian Nationals only)

DRDO conducts Campus Selection in all institutions having intake through IIT system, IISc Bangalore, National Institutes of Technology(Regional Engineering Colleges) and Central Universities viz. Delhi University (DCE, NSIT), Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Allahabad Univesity, Tezpur University, North Eastern Hill University(Shillong, Meghalaya) . Depending on the requirements every year, selection is made in different subjects normally during July-December.

* Directly as Scientist 'B'

Eligibility:

Final year/ pre-final year student of BE/BTech/BSc (Engineering) who have cleared all papers and secured First Class or equivalent CGPA (with minimum 65% marks(7.25 CGPA) for UR or 60% marks(6.75 CGPA) for SC/ST/OBC or equivalent) in aggregate upto the last semester are called for interview in their respective disciplines. The equivalent CGPA is as per AICTE norms. Relaxation are given to SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates as per Govt. of India regulation/rules in vogue. Selection letters are issued to the highly meritorious candidates in Electronic, Mechanical and Computer Science field on the spot as recommended by the Campus Selection Committee.

* Through Aeronautical Research & Development Board (ARDB) Fellowship

Eligibility:

Aeronautical Research & Development Board(ARDB) offers fellowship to BE/BTech and ME/ MTech candidates of Aeronautical Engineering in the various institutes of national fame, i.e., IITs, MIT Chennai, PEC Chandigarh.

The ARDB scholars are inducted at Scientist B level into DRDO on completion of their degree programme. The scholars were finally interviewed by RAC during their final semester of their BE/BTech or ME/MTech degree and selected provisionally subject to completion of necessary prescribed formalities for appointment to Group A post of Govt. of India with field service liabilities.

Amount of Fellowship:

A grant of Rs. 3,000/- per month and Rs. 2,500/- per year for purchase of books for BE/BTech students and Rs. 6,000/- per month and Rs. 3,500/- per year for purchase of books for ME/M.Tech students is given.

(C)Lateral Entry Scheme

RAC issues advertisement through RAC and DRDO websites & "The Employment News" for recruitment of Scientists in middle & senior grades (Scientist 'C' to Scientist 'G') to meet the requirement of scientific manpower having specialized experience in areas of interest to DRDO.

The advertisement also includes Scientists 'B' posts for subjects which are not covered in Scientist Entry Test (SET). These advertisements are issued during the second and last quarter of the calendar year. The advertisements, results and other related details are made available from time to time on RAC and DRDO websites.

Best of luck for your future !
Hope you will make good weapons for my country !

But as you said that you want to make something that means discover something then you should do first graduation in mechanical and then M.Tech from those in which you want to become specialist.
