Hello,
Nice to see your confidence, for IAS you can opt any stream. There will be remarkable only your marks in optional subject, not for what the subject you have opted for optional subject.so choose subject as your carrier option in what your interest is most, if you want to opt maths+computer science, then its completely depends on your interest.
Eligibility for IAS exam-
*graduation from affiliated university from any stream with minimum aggregate 60%.
*age limit-21-31yr(for general category). For reserved category there is age relaxation.
For more information you can visit the official site of UPSC-www.upsc.gov.in
ok, best of luck.

Dear friend,

It is very good to see that you have decided your goal at the beginning stage of your career, good keep it up.

If your ultimate goal is only IAS then I would like to suggest you to go for Arts stream.

Now question comes why I am suggesting for arts, for IAS officer arts syllabus comes in the practical use, where as science stream is not useful in practical life of an IAS officer.

In entrance exam also many question comes from Arts stream.

At last I will say that, for an IAS officer arte stream is good.

All the best.

ya..it is very good choice....
=>joining in this group makes you work without tension...
=>you can also get 90+ percentage in the exam with this group...

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS EXAM:
-->CANDIDATE SHOULD BE FROM INDIAN NATIONALITY
-->candidate should attain a minimum age of 21
-->candidate should complete atleast one degree, irrespective of the specialisation....

after attaining all these
you try to attempt CSAT...

to crack this exam

->u should be strong in technical basics, current affairs, general knowledge...

There are no stream or subject restriction in UPSC exem that is the entrance of IAS or IES. But i am very sure that those subjects are very helpful for your further studies, and also you have a good percentage in academic career...

You should go with your interest.

A person from any stream can become an IAS and is eligible to become an IAS after completing the graduation.

Whether you belong to science, arts or commerce. There are almost 25 subjects from all of the streams, so no point of discussion that a student from arts or commerce has got better chances of getting selected.

Science subjects are also there so dont worry step up with your interest and choose the line you like. All the very best.

I really appreciate your ambition to become an IAS officer

I can explain you clearly about all the details of doubts what you will get till you reach your goal

first after completing your 10th you should complete your 12th this is your next target

choosing an subject for this will come in mind for you

Now as your goal is IAS you need to be very selective here

the groups available for you are

MPC, BiPC ,MEC,HEC,CEC you can select any of these options and these can be also very much helpful in your preparation for IAS too.

like you will have optional subjects in IAS MAINS if you take MPC now you can opt Mathematics as your optional subject

like wise you can select remaining too finally what i want to say is there is no compulsion in the selection of group .

This is the same case in Degree too as you need to have a minimum degree for writing IAS Exam (CSE)

You can select any degree with any branch of your choice but select something which can be completed fast and also which is related to your IAS preparation for example BA economics or like

after completing your degree hopefully your age must be 21 years to apply for the examination because this is the minimum age criteria you must have

after every thing is in your favor that is eligibility criteria then you need to apply for the exam

then after cross all the small hurdles with strong preparation

the hurdles are said only small if you are very strong at your preparation else they may throw you out of the competition so take care about it

Re: Should I go for Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Computer Application in 11th if I want to become an IAS officer?

It nice to see that right from 1oth you are very clear about your goals

However, opting for science, Arts or Commerce has nothing to do with IAS.

Eligibility criteria is such that candidate must be a graduate in any stream weather science Arts or Commerce it nothing to do with that. Also there is no such restriction regarding aggregate in graduation or 12th or 10th. All you need is to be a graduation passed.

Selection are based on three sub stages.

1) CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude Test.
2) & 3) Mains and Interview.

All these are conducted at National level by UPSC.

But the decision taken by you to opt for science with subject combination of English, Physics, Chemistry, MAthematics and Computer Science is the best one. Just go for.

After your 12th you can opt for B.sc or any other professional course like- B.Tech it doesn't matters. But since your ultimate aim is civil service I will advice to opt for B.sc with honours subject. After that get into a good IAS coaching centre and prepare there for your IAS. Simultaneously you can opt for M.sc or MA (Best Option) while preparing and appearing for entrance.
