Re: Customs officers eligibility for merchant navy officers having 2nd mate license and diploma in nautical science

"why D.G. SHIPPING is not considering 2nd mate license cleared by G.P. RATING candidates equal to graduation degree same as cadets license is being considered as graduation. Why this double standard' when both have to go with same procedure and standard of exams to get d 2nd mate license."

Reply: Cadets are enrolled for DNS Leading to BSC Nautical Science program, or have completed BSc Nautical Science, hence program consists of 6 semesters, DG Shipping is not awarding BSc to cadets, cadets are already enrolled in BSc Nautical science hence there is no double standard, they complete two semesters in institute, 3 semesters onboard as SSTP, and 1 semester as 2nd Mate function course, they appear for examination of all the six semesters, however the second mate written taken by MMD is considered as 6th semester exam. Hence there is no partiality or double standard, Ratings and Officers are always given equal opportunity for career growth.

Thank you

Eligibility/Age Limit Admission is open to both unmarried male and female candidates; age should not be more than 20 years (on 1st September of the entry year): those belonging to the SC/ST have this rule relaxed by about 5 yrs.
