For Ofiicer post you need to have a graduation degree. So complete 10+2 and then Graduation, then you will be eligible for the exam by which you may join Indian Navy as a officer.

Recruitment notification for the officers post is released on website and in Employment Newspaper. Selection for the Indian Navy is undertaken through one of the following schemes:

1. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) entries
2. Direct Entry Permanent Commission /Short Service Commission
3. University Entry Scheme (UES)

1. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) entries : In this entry scheme there are 3 Ways.
(a) Naval Academy Exam (NAE)
(b) Combined Defence Services Exam (CDSE)
(c) NCC (For C certificate holder, No exam , Direct SSB.)

2. Direct Entry Permanent Commission /Short Service Commission: In this entry scheme applications from the candidates are received and then certain number of candidates are shortlisted and called for SSB. There is no written examination in this scheme.

3. University Entry Scheme (UES): This scheme is basically for the B.Tech students studying in their 7th semester. The applications from the candidates are invited and after shortlisting certain number of candidates are called for SSB at nearest SSB centres.

Note: You should be physically/mentally fit as per the Indian Navy Standard. If you are interested in Swimming, Racing and other extra curricular activities, this may be beneficial for you.

As you are in 10th standard, so you cannot apply for joining Indian Navy right now.
After completing 11 and 12 from PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics), you will be eligible for applying to NDA exam.

Through NDA exam, you can apply for anyone of the following four wings.
  • Air Force

There are two major entry points in Indian Navy:-

First is- National Defence Academy (NDA )and

Second is- Combined Defence Services Examination( CDS).

To appear in the above maintained examination you must have completed your 12th class or should completed post graduation.

12th class candidates can apply for the NDA while graduations are eligible to appear in CDS.

Re: Steps to become an Indian Navy Officer for 10th student?

After 10th you are not eligible to become navy officer because minimum qualification required to appear in NDA examination is 12th standard with PCM from a recognised board.
After getting qualified in this examination you have to appear in medical examination test and interview. Once you have taken admission in NDA then the procedure to become navy officer will start automatically.
