Re: Which has much broader scope GATE or CAT?

The score of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is more as compared to Common Admission Test.

GATE scorecard is used for admission in M.Tech course as well as for jobs in Public Sector Undertakings whereas CAT score is for admission in MBA in IIMs and other management course.

For an engineering student, GATE exam is more preferable.

If you are interested to pursue MBA from NITIE Mumbai and has entry through GATE examination then, i suggest you to go for GATE examination. Through GATE examination, you can also get jobs in any government firm like BHEL.

As you have mentioned in the thread that you want to own a small scale manufacturing company which needs capital and investment. And to arrange this, you have to do any job and you can get loan from the banks. From job you can gain experience and knowledge to run any firm.

Re: Which has much broader scope GATE or CAT?

As you are planning to open a small scale manufacturing company in future, so MBA would be a better option to pursue. Because, in this course you will get managerial skills. But MBA is fruitful only if you pursue it from pioneer institutes like IIMs.

However, if you get admission into NITIE Mumbai through GATE, then it would be best for you to build up your career. It offers PGDIE, PGDMM & PGDPM. Among these, PGDIE is most favoured course among candidates who get admission here. In GATE, if your AIR is 650 or less, then you can easily get admission here. Even if you don't get NITIE, then there are many other decent IITs and NITs in which you can get admission.

Which has much broader scope GATE or CAT?

Sir I am last year engineering student studying Mechanical engineering. I want to open my own small scale manufacturing company in future but don't know what to choose right now as my career. Should I give GATE exam or CAT exam? I want to do MBA but the college that I am aiming is NITIE Mumbai (PGDIE or PGDMM) which has entry through GATE. So, anyone please guide me.
