So, you have to pursue minimum bachelor degree to become eligible to appear for the examination conducted for recruitment as DSP. Examination is conducted by State Public Service Commission for the recruitment. It is conducted in three stages and have to qualify in all stages for final selection. In order to become superintendent of police, one has to complete the bachelors program in any stream from a recognised University. After completing the graduation candidate is eligible to write civil service exam conducted by union public service commission. After successful qualifying all the stages when is eligible for the post of assistant superintendent of police. after few years of service candidates are promoted in the following manner: . DSP (deputy superintendent of police) . ASP (additional superintendent of police) . SP (superintendent of police) |

A candidate can become DSP through anyone of the following ways: Civil Services Exam (UPSC) Through this exam, candidate will have to achieve good rank to become IPS officer, then he can become DSP. Qualifying Civil Services Exam requires clearing Preliminary Exam, Mains, then Personal Interview. State Administrative Services Exam (like UP PCS, etc.) Here, also same exam pattern is followed like that of UPSC. Promotion to DSP You can be promoted to DSP rank if you are already in Police Service for a long period. |

Re: Steps to become a Deputy Superintendent of Police for a 7th student? To become a DSP you should be 21-18years old. You have to be 5ft 5in tall if men or 5ft 1in tall if women. You have to appear for State level test conducted by State Public Service Commission. Candidates who clear the test are appointed as DSP after training. |

The required eligibility is :- Educational - Bachelor degree in any discipline. Age limit - Varies with state. Examination is conducted in three stages for final selection. So, you will become eligible to appear in the examination after bachelor degree qualification. |

The minimum required educational qualification for appearing in the examination is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree from a recognised university. The age limit varies with examination.
