Re: Can I select political science and public administration as optional subject for IAS mains Yes, you are eligible to select political science and public administration as optional paper. I.A.S stands for the Indian Administrative Service and the examination is conducted by the UPSC every year. There is common examination for all the higher post as IAS/IPS/IFS etc... The eligibility to appear for the examination is :- * Candidate must have graduation degree from any recognised university. * Candidate age must be between 21-30 years and relaxation in age for the OBC and SC/ST candidate. There is no limitations on the dscipline and aggregate of the graduation. The examination is conducted in three stages as the :- * Preliminary. * Mains. * Interview. As there is no limitations on the selection of the optional paper. So you can go with any from the list given on the official website of the UPSC www.upsc.gov.in. But be more careful while selecting the optional paper as every large number of candidate miss due to this. The examination for the 2015 session of the Preliminary stage will be conducted on the 23rd August 2015. The examination for the Mains will be conducted in the November. So for more information visit at www.upsc.gov.in. |
