Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers Exam is the examination organized by the IEI for the admission of eligible students to various engineering degree programmes offered in the institution. Structure and Pattern of AMIE Exam Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers Examination is conducted for two disciplines separately. They are Diploma stream and Non-Diploma stream. The Diploma stream is referred to as Senior Technician Members and Non-Diploma stream is referred to as Technician Members. This examination is conducted twice every year usually in the months of June and December. It is divided into two sections – AMIE Section A exam and AMIE Section B exam. The Section A exam is general to all candidates who wish to pursue the engineering degree in this institution. The exam pattern under Section A is different for the students who have opted Diploma or Non-Diploma. After the Section A exam, students have to complete a project work and based on the satisfactory report in this work, students will be admitted for the Section B exam. In this section, students can choose a particular engineering discipline which the students wish to pursue. This section of examination will include 10 papers of which 7 are compulsory and 3 are optional subjects.
