The tests like the TOEFL and GRE are conducted by US Educational Testing Service to assess the eligibility of international candidates for admission in graduate schools.
GMAT score is used by the english speaking countries to consider application of international candidate for admission in a business school.

TOEFL stands for Test Of English as a Foreign Language.
It comprise of four sections:

Reading section- In this section, you will have to read 3-4 passages and answer around 70 questions.

Listening section- In this section, you will have to answer around 50 questions based on audio of lectures, classroom discussions etc.

Speaking section-In this section, you will have to speak on a particular topic.

Writing Section- In this section, you will have to write on topics based on reading and listening section.

The Graduate Record Examination-GRE and the Graduate Management Admission Test-GMAT is based on
Verbal Reasoning
Quantitative Reasoning
Analytical Writing

All these section includes problem solving, data sufficiency, sentence correction, reading comprehension, writing essays etc.

Only SAT is enough or we need TOEFL? I mean after doing SAT is it necessary to do TOEFL? For scholarship both are necessary?

well let me explain each of them one by one to u

GRE

is the exam conducted for admission to MS ? PHD courses in US

and also acceptable in europe singapore etc.

GMAT

graduate management aptitude test, is conducted for admission in

management courses like 2 yrs and other variants.

TOEFL
This is one exam conducted for testing a students english language skills

includes listning speaking writing reading etc.

GRE and GMAT include verbal and quantitative skills section.

so generally if you want to go i engineering/ research field itself

the you go for GRE and for MBA go for GMAT.

There are many exams which is conduted for study in abroad.

1. TOFEL- whcih is necessary for all programme in U.S
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is administered by Educational Testing Services across the world. Some of the institutes located outside the United States also accept TOEFL score as a measurement of English Proficiency of a candidate.

2.TSE- it is for that people who wants to be a teacher in foregin.

3.IELTS-International English Language Testing System or IELTS is an English language assessment test primarily used by those seeking international education, professional recognition, bench-marking to international standards and global mobility. IELTS is owned, developed and delivered through the patenership of the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the university of cambridge ESOL Examinations.

4.SAT- for all ug rogramme.
(SAT) is way to get admission in colleges in America. SAT is conducted by the College Board, which is a non profit organization and committed to the principles of excellence and equity. The College Board conducts SAT examination with a view to providing opportunities to students of various countries who deserve to engage themselves in their future studies with students of other developing or developed countries.

5.GRE-The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is a standardised examination conducted by the ETS (Educational Testing Services), USA GRE (Graduate Record Examination) measures the potential of a candidate which almost all the graduate schools and universities abroad demand for the purpose of admission in different streams like Graduate studies, Fellowships Programs and Research Programs etc. ETS representative in India is responsible for conducting the examinations.The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) scores happen to be one of the several parameters which the Graduate Schools or Universities look into, for assessing an applicant for study in the all the streams except Management.

6. For management streams admission is done through GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test).

im a first year engineering student.i wish to study abroad after my engineering,but i lack the knowledge about toefl,gmat,gre etc.what is exact course for each of these,from when should i start prep for these and does it need special coaching or something or can i just do it all by myself.
