Re: Less percentage in B.Tech. hindering Jobs Placements and Higher Studies Options

1) If you have secured marks 60% and above it then you are eligible for further studies like B.Tech.

2) If your marks exists in range of 45% to 60% then B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., are the options for you. by the way more than 60% can also go for these courses.

3) If your marks are less than 45% and above than 33% then you should go for I.T.I. or other any courses such as computer courses.

These percentages are about 12th standard only

Re: Less percentage in B.Tech. hindering Jobs Placements and Higher Studies Options

60 % is i think is the worst thing that can happen to you .
you are an extremely brilliant student which your marks speak.
people like you are in great demand in software industry where the mental level of person matters much more. you ll get it very easily or by few recommendations.
secondly we always think that getting a job means a safe and secure life.
it is not always true. we also have business field. after you get some money you can do many kinds of business. you can also try your luck in shares or in real estate which is not so bad.

I have only 48% in B.Tech EE from NIT Warangal, I have 2 years work experience in software development. I want to go for M Tech in IIT/NIT, I am sure I can score well in GATE but I came to know that when I googled the eligibility critieria is minimum 50% marks in B.Tech for IITs/NIT. I know I made some blunder during BTech, I just want to overcome this by doing well in M Tech and score well and go for Phd. Can you suggest me if any alternatives to get into IITs or any other good universities in India for M Tech?

Re: Less percentage in B.Tech. hindering Jobs Placements and Higher Studies Options

Dear Kushik,

Do not worry about your % of marks.

if u have good % of marks, you will have good beginning in your career.

Good percentage only helps you to get good start in a reputed company.

i myself an engineer & basically from vijayawada & now i am working as an Sr. Engineer in the world's largest oil & gas company abroad.

i have got my class mates while i was studying B.tech.

Some of my friends they got state level ranks in engg.

but after 10 years of professional experiance, i am in a good position & some of my friends still working in india and that to not in a reputable companies.

The real life starts now, if u have common sense & dedication towards work , you will succeed in careeer.

The former HMT chairman & Managing director was basically 'Diploma student from andhra & former GAIL project director was Diploma student.

u can upgrade your skills while working.

do not think unnecessarily & do not drag time just join in any private company & start working who knows you could be a MD of any company in future.

All the best RAO.

hi dear,
really it is a problem for you. but you should not worry so much for that.

there are so many company which recruit student without any minimum marks. you should try for that type of company. may be these are short company or not the leading company. but as your marks is less than 60% so you have to go for it.

after few years with the experience of your previous company apply for leading company in walk in interview. i think you will get job there. previously you have a very good marks so you will not face problem so much.

hallo,
First of I want to say you that don't get dishearten.. never underestimate your spirit..
don't give up..

see, my friend there are lots of options..
Your result in Intermediate and SSC shows your talent..

You can apply for Govt. jobs.. The number is not a factor here, to get a job the talent is required.. and you have the talent..
so, apply for govt. jobs..

you can also appear in civil service exams like-IAS,IES conducted by UPSC..

You can also go for defense exams like-EKT,UES,CDS etc..

I give you an example it will inspire you-
One of my friend got a job in ALSTOM.. his package is 5 lakh per annum after B.tech..
His aggregate is near about 55% throughout career..

Though he got a very goo job..

So, my friend there are lots of private companies those have no such criteria you can go for those companies..

you get more information from Employment news paper.. keep in touch with it..

don't worry there must be some way out..

All the best..

Re: Less percentage in B.Tech. hindering Jobs Placements and Higher Studies Options

dear friend,
No doubt your marks should be of 60% in B.Tech to get a job in various companies.

But for higher studies like M.Tech there are no any criteria of marks , you have to just pass in B.Tech degree.

& for M.Tech it doesn't matter how many marks you obtained in B.Tech.

kindly i suggest you if you want to do higher studies then kindly take preparation for GATE 2011.

And after getting good GATE score you can take admission in IITs,NITs etc.

You need not to panic about your higher studies.

good luck.

Re: Less percentage in B.Tech. hindering Jobs Placements and Higher Studies Options

Hello,

Boy chill.. dont get so emotional. Where there's a will, there's a way.
You got low percentage because of your ill health, and i know no company would consider your ill health as a reason. I know it is difficult, you are also not eligible for M.Tech.
So what to do now??

Well, the solution is a bit odd, but then if we think over it , we do get some.
You are an engineering college pass out. You have many fields available for you.
First and foremost, i would suggest that you immediately appear for the civil service examination. It is an examination for govt jobs. Choose your field, IAS, IPS, Collector or whatever you find suitable for yourself and work hard. forget about the past.

also if you dont like govt jobs, then you have the defense job. You are eligible for it. They have no condition on the percentage. You apply for CDS. You are a technical student and hence would find it easier to get into the defense than the students from other streams.

Good Luck!
