If I select Civil Engineering subject as my optional subject in inidian forest service mains exam than do i have select another subject....???If NO....than my main exam will be out of 1000 marks or 1400 marks...????

If I choose civil engineering subject in Mains in indian forest service exam than second subject selection is needed or what...??? or only civil engineering subject(only 1 subject) is sufficient.....???If yes than is it ture that my mains exam wiil be counted out of 1000 marks instead of 1400....??

I had studied BSC computer science and having 53% and MCA with 63%. I do not have 60% cut off in degree. can i eligible to write IFS EXAM, as if i do not have 60% in my graduation.

Indian Forest Service Examination

The Indian Forest Service (IFS) is the Forestry service of India. It is one of the three All India Services of the Indian government, along with the Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service. Its employees are recruited by the national government but serve under the state governments or Central Government.
Exam Schedule

Notification of Examination - February/March
Conduct of Examination - July

Age Limits

21-30 Years on 1st July of the year of examination.
Certain categories of persons as specified in the Notice are eligible for age relaxation.
Educational Qualification

A Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognized university or equivalent. Candidates appearing at their degree examination (with prescribed subjects) are also eligible to compete. Candidates qualifying on the result of the written part of the examination will be required to submit the proof of passing the requisite examination along with their detailed application form to be filled up at that stage.

Paper II - General Knowledge - 300 Marks
Paper III, IV, V & VI - Any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects set out below. Each subject will have two papers. - 200 Marks for each paper.
Total marks for written examination - 1400 Marks.

Provided that the candidates will not be allowed to offer the following combination of subjects :

1. Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering
2. Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
3. Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
4. Mathematics and Statistics
5. Of the Engineering subjects viz. Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering - not more than one subject
Training

Selected candidates are sent for foundation training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration at Mussourie. This is followed by Forest Service-specific orientation at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy at Dehradun, with training on forest and wildlife management, soil conservation, surveying, Scheduled Tribes, and handling weapons.

After completing the academies, candidates go through a year of on-the-job field training in the state to which he or she is assigned. There is a probationary period three years during which they are posted as Assistant Conservators of Forests. On completion of this, and after a totalperiod of four years of service in the junior scale, officers are appointed to the Senior Time Scale and are entitled to be posted as the Deputy Conservators of Forests or Divisional Forest Officers in charge of districts/forest divisions.

sir iam srilu.i completed my btech in computers.iam very interersted to study civils.which optional is better to score good marks either forestry or geology.and which is better to choose.and if i choose geology as my optional will it helpful for generalknowledge or shall i choose forestry.as iam maths background please suggest me the best optional.and iam mpc stream,so can i choose chemistry as my second optional.can you suggest me where can i take coaching for chemistry.what are the subjects involved in generalknowledge.and can you please suggest me the best coaching institutes in hyderabad for indian forest service.

Indian Foreign Services(IFS)

To join in the IFS you need to go through the Civil Service examination.Based on the marks which you will achieve in both Preliminary and Main stages you will have a chance to opt either for IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS.If your marks are low then you will only have limited options to choose hence try to score better.

You can go through the examination if your between the age group of 21-30 with a graduation degree from a recognized University.

Indian Forest Service (IFS) Exam 2011

The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2011 usually in 1st week of July, to be conducted at various centers across the country.Some of the eligibility conditions are:

Eligibility Conditions:

Nationality:

A candidate must be either :
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.

I'm an agriculture graduate from Kerala. Currently working as farm manager in New Zealand. I would like to know more about Indian Forest Service exam. I'm planning to take Agriculture and Forestry as my optionals. Can you please guide me regarding this. I would also like to know if there is any training institute for IFS exam preparation..Thanks..Deepak
