I have Myopia with -3.5D and my height is 168cm and weight is 55kg. I would like to know that can I join Paratroopers Commandos? Kindly let me know as I am afraid that I miss the chance because of my eyesight.

Eligibility criteria for Para commandos :-

-The candidate must be an Indian.

-The candidate must have passed 10th or any equivalent examination from a recognized board of examination.

-The candidate age must be in between 18 years to 23 years.

Individuals working in Army can apply for commandos. Selection procedure involves of Aptitude test followed by Interview and pre-joining fitness test. The candidates have to undergo 6 months training in the Special Forces regiments and 3 months training for normal parachute regiments. There will be physical, mental and psychological tests carried out as part of the training. Those who successfully complete the hard training program can become Parachute Commandos within the Army.

Physical requirements for commandos :

Height : minimum 165 cm

Weight : minimum 60 kg

Chest : minimum 80 cm (with expansion of 5 cm)

Eyesight : 6/6 with no defects

If you fulfill below given criteria, then you are eligible Paratroopers Commandos.

Physical fitness criteria for Paratroopers Commandos exam:-

Height

For Men : 165 cm(AROUND)
For Women :150 cm(AROUND)

OBC /SC/ST :

Male:160 cm and female :145 cm

Chest

Male candidates-84 (+ 5cm).

Female candidates-79cm(+ 5cm).

Eye Sight

For Worse Eye :6/12 or 6/9 distant vision
For good Eye :6/6 or 6/9 distant vision

Your height is perfect as per the eligibility criteria(157cm) for paratrooper commandos. But your eye site should be 6/6 without glasses. Also you must not have any eye problem like colour blindness. As you have -3.5D myopia, so you are not eligible for paratroopers commandos.
The selection process for paratrooper commandos is : First of all you have to crack the entrance test. After that you have to clear the interview. At last you must have to qualify the medical fitness.
