No, Diploma Candidates are Not eligible to apply for UPSC Civil services examination because for this examination, you have to complete your Graduate degree course form a recognised university, Final year Graduate candidates are also apply for this examination.

But you have completed your Diploma course and diploma candidates are Not eligible to apply for UPSC Civil services examination.

So, I will suggest you to complete your Graduation and then apply for UPSC Civil services examination.

To apply for this examination, your age should between 21 to 30 years and Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC Candidates.

So, please go for Graduate degree course and then you are eligible for UPSC Civil services examination. This examination was Conducted by UPSC Every year in two stages, Preliminary examination and Main examination and Firstly you have to cracked the Preliminary examination only then you are eligible to appear for the Main examination..

Preliminary examination was Objective and Main examination was descriptive and for Main examination you have to choose the Optional subject, so if you are Interested in This examination to become IAS/IPS Officer, then please complete your graduate degree course and then apply for UPSC Civil services examination.

Eligibility Criteria for Civil Service Exam:-

You must be an Indian citizen.

You should be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University.

You should have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years as on August 1 of the year of examination. Due age relaxation is given to candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. For details, see Employment Notice.

So please complete your degree course and try for the desired examination.

Dear Friend,

I think you are not eligible to apply for the Civil Service Examination as the minimum educational qualification required to apply for the Civil Service Examination is Graduation in any stream from a recognized Institute and you have not completed your Graduation.

So therefore I suggest you to first complete your Graduation then you will become eligible to apply for the civil service examination.And then apply for the examination.

A diploma holder is not considered eligible for the Civil Service Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission.
To be eligible, you must hold a bachelors degree of a recognized university. No matter which stream you belong to, you will be eligible if you hold a bachelors degree. The minimum eligible age is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 30 years.
So, if you really want to write the civil service examination, you must, fist of all, complete your graduation in any stream through regular classes or distance learning.

Sorry,you cant apply for UPSC civil services exam.For UPSC you have to graduate.Graduate degree is must required for UPSC.So,at first you should complete your graduate.

I am Benuraba Sahababu, completed Diploma in civil Engg. At present I am doing a job in Railway, but I want do to Graduate in CIVIl Engg for Indian Engineering Service in distance learning mode. So, I want to know Graduate in Civil Engg in distance learning mode is eligible to attend the IES Exam?

The acronym for UPSC is Union Public Service Commission.


UPSC conducts civil services examination every year for the posts of IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS, IES,etc.


The eligibility criteria required for the civil services examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of graduation in any track from any accredited university.

* Final year contenders are also eligible.

* Percentage criteria is not required.

* Age limit:- 21-30 yrs.

* Age relaxation:- 3 yrs for OBC, 5 yrs for SC/ST and 10 yrs for PWD contenders.

* No. of attempts:- 4 for General, 7 for OBC and no limits for SC/ST contenders.

* Nationality:- Indian.
