University Grants Commission is the governing body of the National Eligibility Test. The test is conducted for subjects like languages, humanities, social sciences etc. For more science subjects the test is conducted jointly by UGC and CSIR. In the UGC-NET, sociology is one of the subjects. There are two papers on the subject- paper II and paper III. Paper II is and objective test, consisting of 50 MCQs. The marks carried by each of the question are 2 and the time allotted for writing the paper is an hour and 15 minutes. The questions are general MCQs like true-false type, matching type, and assertion-reason type. Sometimes, questions based on a passage are also given. No negative marking is there in paper II of any subject in NET.
