requirement for phd in sociology.
Sociology is a subject where you study different culture and religion

you can do PH.D only if you complete your post graduation from recognized university
with atleast 55%to 60% marks.(maintain good marks in your graduation also)

It does not matter whether you do your graduation or post graduation
from regular or from non collegiate.

some good universities offering PH.D in sociology

The Indira Gandhi National Open University - New Delhi, Delhi
Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology
Master in Sociology

Osmania University - Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh
Doctor of Philosophy- Sociology
Doctor of Philosophy- Sociology (Part Time)

Netaji Subhas Open University - Kolkata, West Bengal
Doctor of Philosophy- Sociology
Bachelor of Arts- Sociology (Honors)

Veer Narmad South Gujarat University - Surat, Gujarat
Doctor of Philosophy - Sociology
Master of Philosophy - Sociology

Pune University - Pune, Maharashtra
Doctor of Philosophy - Sociology
Master of Philosophy - Sociology

To pursue Ph.D in Sociology, you should be a post graduate in sociology. Even correspondence students can apply if the same is from a recognized institute. The course has no fixed duration. Students are allowed to complete the course in 2 to 3 years. Some of best colleges in India to purse the course are National Institute of Technology, Delhi University, Madras University, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), etc.
