Being a constable of West Bengal Police I have intended to undergo B.ALLBthrough distance or correspondence mode from any recognized university under Indian territory Please provide me the details of university or law college whichever can help ahead my future. where from I can do the BA LLB through distance or correspondence mode.Please inform me with prevailing details at [email protected].

I can understand that you are doing a government job and therefore would ideally like to do LLB through distance education. But I am afraid that there is no option of doing so. It is simply not possible in India.

LLB is a regular mode only degree course. What this means is that you can not apply for LLB course through correspondence or distance education. You need to have 80 percent attendance to appear for the final examination.

This is not possible to do so through correspondence. The word from Bar Council of India is that you will have to do LLB through regular mode. Even if some college offers you LLB through distance education, the Bar Council of India will not recognize that degree.

It essentially means that your degree will be invalid therefore you won't be able to practice in the court as lawyer.

The decision to do forward is very tricky for you. Surely you should not risk giving up the government job. So the logical thing to do is, search for the evening LLB colleges.

Candidates on certain government jobs are given education leave to pursue certain courses. Please check with your office to see whether you are eligible for one or not.


LLB Eligibility

1. 3 years LLB is the course for graduates.

2. Your marks in graduation should be 45 to 50 percent.

3. There is 5% relaxation for SC and ST.

4. While for OBC there is no relaxation.

5. Upper age limit is 30 years.

6. There is 5 years relaxation for SC and ST.

It is claimed that, Bhadral Law College under Fakir Mohan University offers 3 years LLB without any age bar on candidates. Can anybody confirm please?

Look there are many universities with distance course on LLB but doing such is of no use, because Bar Council of India has disapprove all LLB programs on distance mode, if you even do LLB on distance mode it will be a sheet of paper of no use. So, its better go for LLB on regular mode, if you are a graduate go for 3 yrs LLB course or else 5 yrs LLB course. Below are the institutes for 5 yrs LLB course:

-SLS
-JLS
etc
and for admission in the above institute sit for CLAT, AILET, SET,etc

and for 3yrs LLB course:

-BHU
-Allahabad University
-Mumbai University
-Delhi University
etc
and for admission in the above institute need to sit for the entrance test conducted by the universities or direct admission in certain places.
