what is the percentage required in the 10th standard for studying IIT? is it necessary to take computer science in 10th? i also wanted to know about some good IIT institutions

IIT connsiders the marks of class 12th only not class 10th .you need to secure atleast 60% in your 12th with physics,chemistry and maths as cumpulsory subjects for applying in IIT-JEE.

there is no any necessity to take computer science in class 10th for applying in IIT-JEE.
but if you want to make future in computer then you can take this subject but it is not mendatory.

IITs are the top institute in India for technical study now. all IITs are good enough. but i think Delhi IIT is the best one.

minimum percentage required to take admission in IIT in class 10 and 12 is 60%. if you have less then 60% marks in 10th or 12th then you will not be eligible to take admission in IIT.

Hi,

You need to have 60% in 10th,12th and it is not necessary to have Computer Science, but you must have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 12th.

As i know for applying for IIT exam you should have minimum 60%
in your 10th and 12th.
it not necessary that you should have computer science subject in 10th.if you have physics,chemistry,and maths in your 12th class then you can apply for IITexam.

Dear friend I don't think that only class 10th marks are required for IIT.

It needs your class 12th qualification also with Science stream in class 12th.

Also computer science is not important for IIT.

there is no boundation on 10th class marks for getting into iit. you need to have atleast 60% marks in 12th class to get admission in the iit. it is not necessary to take computer science in 10th class. all you need to do is have physics, chemistry and maths as your subject in 12th class. you will have to give the exam of iit jee to get admission in iit college.

In CICSE board you have the option to drop science at class 10th. what do I loose by taking this option career wise ?

For getting admission in IIT you need to have good marks in 12th as an eligibility to appear for JEE.

Good marks in 12th will help you appear for JEE but wont be enough to get you admission.
You have to appear for IIT JEE which is conducted every year on 2nd sunday of April

You can have any percentage in 10th as nothing has been mentioned in eligibility criteria.
Its not necessary to take Computer Science of any other vocational subject in 10th for admission in IITs

Your marks in 12th standard are irrelevant when applying in the Indian Institutes of Technology. At the same time your subjects in 12th should be Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to apply for the engineering course.

This should answer the first part of your question. Coming to admission in Indian Institutes of Technology. You should first complete 12th standard and then appear for the Joint Entrance Exam.

JEE is actually the replacement for the IIT-JEE and AIEEE entrance exam. Government of India has replaced both these entrance exams with a single exam called Joint Entrance Exam

It has two stages:

JEE Mains

JEE Advanced

The JEE Mains is the first stage and this for admission in 15 percent all India seats. Basically the replacement of AIEEE entrance exam. The final score of this exam will give 60 percent weightage to your performance in exam and 40 percent weightage to your marks in 12th standard.

JEE Advanced is second stage which is not required to be cleared by everyone. Only those who want admission in Indian Institutes of Technolgy have to appear for the JEE Advanced.

The JEE Advanced can be appeared only after clearing the JEE Mains. The top 150,000 who clears the JEE Mains can appear for the JEE Advanced.


JEE Eligibility

1. Complete 12th from a recognized board.

2. Physics, Chemistry and Maths should be your subjects.

3. 3/4 years diploma holders can also appear.

4. There is no percentage criteria.

5. Age limit is 25 years to appear for the exam.

6. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.

7. Three consecutive attempts per candidate is given.
