Procedure to bcome a chartered accountant :
Eligibility : u must have passed 12th exam in any stream or appearing
Exams : for being CA one have to pass the exams in 3 steps-
1. CPT(common profieciency test)
2. AIPCC(Integrated professional certificate course)
3. CA final

CPT- when u appearing in 12th u can register for CPT. registration is open for whole the year. CPT exam is held on june & december in a yr. the exam is of 4 hrs. It has 2 section & each has 2 hrs. The question paper is of objective type.
Syllabus to prepare for cpt:- fundamental of accounts, mercantile law,general economics, quantative aptitude etc

AIPCC:- after passing cpt u can do registration for aipcc. It has 2 groups. Ist grup has 4 & 2nd grup has 3 papers. Before sitting in the exam u have to do itt(information technology traininig) of 100 hrs.

CA FINAL:- ca final is the last stage. After ipcc u have to register for ca final.
Now u can apply for the post of ca & to get icai membership.

You can apply for the CPT level first. If you register before 1st October you will be eligible for the exam in December 2012. If you clear all the papers you are then eligible for the IPCC level. You can either enroll for group I or group II or both. You can pursue 3 years articleship along with this level. On completion of this level you need to clear complete an orientation course as well ITT. Then you need to clear the final CA exam.

As you have given 12th examination you can register your self for CPT level in ICAI .

You can register your self either online or by filling the written form of Chartered Accountancy course.

You can purchase the prospectus of the Chartered Accountancy course from it's centers.

The information about the centers are available in it's official website.

ICAI Conduct the examinations of Chartered Accountancy course in June and December.

There are 3 level in CA which candidate have to clear for becoming Chartered Accountant.

There are three stages in CA

Common Proficiency Test (CPT)
IPCC (group I & II )
Final examination

Common Proficiency Test - Subjects

Fundamental of Accounting
Mercantile Law
General Economics
Quantitative Aptitude


After clearing CPT you will become eligible to apply in IPCC examination.

Clearing IPCC examination means eligibility for FINAL examination.

Duration of Chartered Accountancy course - 4.5 year (minimum)

CA FEE

40000/- to 45000/-.

You can get admission in the Chartered Accountancy Course after 12th.

The CA course comprises of CPT, IPCC, Articled Training and Final Course.

To become a qualified CA you will have to first pass a Common Proficiency Test (CPT).
After qualifying the CPT, you can register for Inetgreated Proficiency Comptence Course
(IPCC). There are two groups in IPCC; Group-I and Group-II.
You can take both the group exams together or you can take them separately.
You can apply for Group-II exams after qualifying Group-I exams.

You will have to undergo an Articled Training of three years duration after qualifying Group-I exam or both Group exams of IPCC.

You can apply for Final Course exam after completion (or in the last 6 months) of \
Articled Training.

To register for the course you should logon to http://www.icai.org/
Rollover on 'Students' link and click on 'Course Registration Forms'.
Download the registration form for CPT, take a print out and send the filled in
application form as instructed in the same.

Candidates who have passed 10+2 or appearing in any discipline (i.e. Commerce/Arts/Science) from recognized University can apply for CPT exam conducted twice every year in the month of June & December. You should be able to clear CPT with good marks.
There are no restrictions in the no. of attempts a candidate can make at CA-CPT exam.

CA-CPT Syllabus

No. of papers:- One

Section A:- Fundamentals of Accounting ( 60 Marks )
Section B: Mercantile Law ( 40 Marks )

June 6th, 2010; June 5th, 2011; June 3rd, 2012.

December Examination:-

After passing CPT you can apply for CA Programme which is mainly divided into Integrated Professional Competency Course and Final course.
After completing the CPT or graduation with required marks one can go for Integrated Professional Competency Course (IPCC). The registration for PCC is open throughout the year. The exam will be held twice a year in May and November.

IPCC
Eligibility for IPCC:
--> Commerce graduates with 50% marks,
--> Non-commerce graduates with subjects other than Mathematics with an aggregate of 55% marks
--> Non-commerce graduates with Math with an aggregate of 60% marks

Subjects for IPCC

The IPCC Examination has two groups that consists of three papers each (i.e total 6 papers) and each paper consist 100 marks each.

Group I
Paper 1 - Accounting
Paper 2 - Auditing
Paper 3 - Business and Corporate Laws

Group II
Paper 4 - Cost Accounting and Financial Management
Paper 5 - Income Tax & Central Sales Tax
Paper 6 - Information Technology


Final Course
The candidate can register as a final student and write the final exam once they passed the IPCC exam.

Procedure to Become Chartered Accountant


The Procedure can be summarised as below:-

Pass CPT examination

Register/Enroll for Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC)

Complete 9 months of Study Course.

Complete 100 hours of Information Technology Training (ITT).

Complete Orientation Course (35 hours spread over one week).

Pass Group I or both Groups of Integrated Professional Competence Examination (IPCE).

Register as Articled Assistant for a period of 3 years.

Pass Group II of IPCC if not already passed.

Appear in Final Examination during last 6 months of 3 years of articled training.

Pass both the Groups of Final examination.

Get Final Examination Certificate.

Complete remaining period of articled training, if applicable

Complete Course on General Management and Communication Skill

Enroll as a member of ICAI and designate as "Chartered Accountant"

hii ..I'm Jatin Chopra still studying ...now I'm in class 11 if i take commerce without maths so can i apply for C.A..i read the procedure but ..i want to know more about the training and coaching .,who will help me in coaching and training ..if i clear the exam ...then ...what is the next step why I'm doing a course of 9 months and then a course of 3 years ...plz told me that what is this training and coaching.....and who will trained me plzz guide me about this factor of coaching and training please mail me on [email protected]

i I have recently given 10th board cbse exams and i m sure that i can score above 8.0 cgpa....which means more than 75%......so with this type of result can i clear all the three steps of ca procedure...what are my chances and what is the difficulty level of this three steps??????.....and what is the no. of vacancies and attempts if i am obc...???
