Hello dear, the total number of seats are around 10,000 . And also IISc also participate in GATE.

hii yeah there are 10000 seats, but make sure a good rank then only you can see iit s or else very tough, more competation for this 10k seats.

there are about 10000 seats are in IITs of each branch. So there are total 5 iits in India. If you score good then you have to chance to get admission in IITs.

is it really easy to get admissions into iit's,niit or whatever..private institutes.coz. really getting score or i say good score sometimes doesnt work.coz getting into iit is very hard.so is it better to do m.tech or m.e from any private institutes.any liek amity or vit or thappar....

There are roughly 400-500 seats (in total) available in all iits for m.tech. in cs/it or other relevant cs branches. for nits, it must be something like 1000-1200. colleges other than iits and nits are having enough seats to accomodate all gate qualified students.

See there is no fixed seats in IITs and NITs . In every year the total number of seats are increased.

See this is a controversy question. Although it varies year to year.Generally two main factors are fully depend on this which are :

1. Number of students appeared in the stream in which you are appearing in.
2. Maximum marks obtained in a year by a candidate.

According two the factor your GATE score is evaluated. So especially there is no fixed marks to get chance in IITs and NITs.
Although I will tell you about this. According me it is 40 to 50 marks you have to get out of 100.

The GATE 2012 paper which I have appeared for is Aerospace, My GATE rank 160 and percentile is 94.92. I would like to know if I could get ino IIT or be called for the interview in my field i.e Aerospace.Thanks for the reply.
