The paper on Principles of Information Technology is of 100 marks. The students are allotted three hours to answer the questions. There are no sections in the question paper. It consists of 8 questions from which the student must answer 5. All questions carry equal marks. They are all descriptive questions. Some of the important questions are explain in detail about the overview of revolution in computers and communication, explain the various developments in computer technology, explain the features of a data base management system, distinguish between compression and decompression, discuss in detail about file management system, discuss the features of DBMS, discuss in detail about five generations of programming languages, short notes on: web browsers and internet programming, describe in detail about organizing data in secondary storage, explain with an example the principles and methods of video or voice communication and discuss the functions of cable modems. The questions are long and require exhaustive factual answers.
