Sir, I hav complted my diploma in chemical engg and i hav heard that a diploma chemical engg can opt for be or btech in biotechnology for direct 2 year , is it true ...?? And if yes then shud i prefer it ??? Pls help

Usually candidates with biological background are considered for admission to B.Tech in Biotechnology. Diploma holders in Biotechnology can have admission to 2nd year of B.Tech (Biotechnology). B.Sc (Medical) or B.Sc. Bio Sciences graduates can seek to B.Tech (Biotechnology) in LPU. Integral University, Thapar University, etc also offer lateral entry admissions. Admissions are done on the basis of lateral entry entrance exams.

many colleges do take diploma candidates directly into 2nd year of engineering.
this process is called as Lateral Entry to Engineering College.

Thus, you can go for it but make sure you go for the very reputed college as in India this branch is still very behind. So there would be less job opportunity.

You may also like to evaluate other options such as Chemical Engineering or Production Engineering
Chemical and Production engineering have a very good scope in future. But again make sure to choose the best college
