what kind of examinations should computer science student give for government jobs?

for computer science engineers there is no such core job in government sector
as for IES(indian engineerig services) only 4 branches are considered -electronics engg. ,civil engg., mechanical engg. ,electrical engg....

the only left scope is through exams held by PSU's . they have some vacancy for computer science students..

DRDO
Bharat Electronics Limited

Apart from these, you can apply for Indian Engineering Services examination in

Electronics and Communication Engineering stream.

If you find your interest in civil services examination then you should try for this too.

As you had B.tech from Computer science

YOU can 1st apply for exam conducted by BSNL public company conducted every year in the month of June probably.

but friend you had to do little hard work for this is every good oportunity
for cs engg.

atmost their is not such any scope for CS students in public sectors as in the private sector.

except for the IES you can appear for all the exams conducted by the government.keep an eye on the official website of the upsc at www.upsc.gov.in for information about the release of forms for different exams.

apart from the early mentioned reply i would like to add that under noted govt dept/ agencies are: Defence air force. Where regular permanent/ssc commission are available. Indian oil, ONGC, BHEL, recruit in bulk for their operations. More over all state owned electronics development dept/corporations are the hive for employment. UPSC also advt for computer engg for various union govt. dept, although experiance is required for middle/senior level posts. Teaching/training area can not ignored. Vast scope in univer- sities and in various govt. projects. isn't it ?

friend though i shall admit that there are not enough jobs for computer science engineers in govt. sector u can sit for ongc,bel and few others but they have very few intake. otherwise u may opt for getting a job in banking sector. but otherwise IT sector is always open for u.
