GATE Chemistry Papers
GATE is a very popular and a prestigious exam of our country. The full form of the exam is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. There are many subjects in which the exam can be taken. Chemistry is one such subject. The questions are all objective in nature with four options for each question. Candidates have to darken the circle corresponding to their answer. Circles are to be marked on the OMR sheet provided. Wrong answers attract a penalty of 25% marks deduction. The pattern of the Chemistry exam is given below:
Paper Pattern
Questions carry 150 marks in total and they are divided in groups.
The first 20 questions are in group 1. This group contains the 1 mark questions. The total of these questions is 20.
The next 55 questions are 2 marks questions. The total of these questions is 110 marks.
After this questions 76 to 85 are the 2 marks questions with the peculiarity of being linked answer type questions. The total of this group is 20. The answer of the second question is based on the answer of the first one. If the first answer is answered wrong the second will not be evaluated. However, negative marking is not there for these questions.
