Goa Institute of Management (GIM) conducts an admission procedure for admission to its Post Graduate Diploma in Management Program. GIM has been approved by AICTE for its 2 year PGDM Program. It is considered to be a reputed institute for management education in the country. Goa Institute of Management has a very good infrastructure and facilities. It also has international collaborations for student exchange programs. Over the year the institute has progressed highly in terms of placement records.

GMI uses XAT scores for short listing candidates for its PGDM Program. Therefore it is essential for students who want to get admission in PGDM program of GIM to appear in XAT. The shortlisted candidates are then called for Personal Interview and General Discussion after which the final selections are made. Total number of seats in PGDM program of GIM is 120.

XAT stands for Xavier Admission Test. It is an All India Level Management Entrance Exam. It is an Objective type test. The test duration is of Two Hour Thirty Minutes. For each question there are four choices out of these choices the candidates have to select one option as a correct answer. The question Paper consists of two hundred questions. These questions are divided in to three sections. Each question contains one mark. For each correct answer the candidates are awarded with one mark and for each wrong answer one third marks are deducted.

Section one contain Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability Test Questions. Section Two Consist of Quantitative Ability, Reasoning and Data Interpretation Question and the Section three contain the questions related to General Awareness Questions. Within the last twenty minutes the candidates have to write an essay of two hundred fifty to three hundred words. The topics of   essay are related to social relevance. This is one of the toughest exam in India for the Management Education.

For taking Admission in the Goa Institute of Management the candidates have to cross the cut-off marks which depend on the number of students who takes part in the entrance test. The institute calls the qualified candidates for the personal interview. This is the last procedure.

Eligibility criteria:

A candidate should have a 3 years bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised institute with atleast 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates in their final year of graduation can also apply.

How to apply for GIM:

Since admission in GIM is through XAT candidates have to appear for XAT. In addition candidates interested for admission in PGDM program of GIM have to apply online through the website gim.sify.net.

Important Dates (Tentative):

Availability of Online Application: September-December, 2010

Last Date for Online Application: January 1st week, 2011

Personal Interview: February-March, 2011

Announcement of Admission List: April, 2011

Selection process:

Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their XAT scores. The shortlisted candidates are then called for Face to Face Evaluation Process. Final selection is based on a number of factors having different weightage: XAT Score (50%); Face to Face Evaluation Process (30%); Past Academic Record (10%) & Work Experience (10%).
