Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a union territory located in the Western part of the nation. Nagar Haveli is located in between the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra, while Dadra is an enclave located at a distance of few kilometers north of Nagar Haveli in Gujarat, whose capital is Silvassa. This union territory lies at some 10 to 30 kilometers up-river from the city of Daman. The major spoken languages in this union territory are Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati.

Arts & Commerce College:

The Dadra & Nagar Haveli Ucchha Shiksha Samiti, which is a 100% government-funded society registered for higher education purpose in the union territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli is running the Institute of Higher Learning in Silvassa. The institute offers Bachelor of Arts and Commerce course to aspiring candidates.

Polytechnic College:

Dr. B.B.A. Government Polytechnic, Karad was established by the Administration of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli in the year 1994. The institution is affiliated to the Technical Education Board located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat and to the Gujarat Technological University located in Ahmedabad. As such, the institute offers the following courses with the corresponding intake capacity mentioned below:

Diploma in

o Civil Engineering – 60 students per year

o Mechanical Engineering – 60 students per year

o Electrical Engineering – 60 students per year

o Electronics & Communication Engineering – 30 students per year

o Computer Engineering – 30 students per year

o Information Technology – 30 students per year

The duration of these diploma courses is three years and the institute follows semester pattern of education with approval from Technical Education Board of Gandhinagar.

Even though, the number of colleges is lesser in the Union Territory, it has totally 215 schools, which includes higher secondary, secondary and middle schools.
