Karaikal District is located in the Union Territory of Pondicherry and it is one of the four districts of the union territory. The regional headquarters of the district is the town of Karaikal, which is located at about 9 kms south of the town of Tarangambadi and 16 kms north of the town of Nagapattinam. The literacy rate is the district is developing and to avoid children dropping out education, several schemes like mid-day meals and morning break-fast were introduced by the government of Pondicherry.
