Kurukshetra is a land of historical importance, which was previously under the state of Punjab and now it belongs to the state of Haryana. The city is also called as Dharmakshetra and the meaning of this term is holy city.

The city is historically important due to the fact that the popular war of Mahabharata, Kurukshetra war took place in this holy land and the holy Bhagavad Gita was known to have been preached in this land. Medical College:

Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College came into existence in the year 1975 and this college was established by the Government of Haryana to offer medical education in the field of Ayurveda. This college is affiliated to the Kurukshetra University, the college is offering Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery course with an intake capacity of 50 students per year, and for the D. Pharmacy Ayurveda course offered by the institution, the intake capacity is 50 students per year.

Admission to the BAMS course offered by Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College is done based on the marks secured by the students in the PMT test conducted by the Maharishi Dayanand University located in the city of Rohtak in Haryana. The duration of BAMS course offered by the college is five-and-half years and for applying to this course, candidates must have completed their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subject and must have secured not less than 40% of aggregate marks.

Engineering College:

National Institute of Technology was previously called as Regional Engineering College and this college came into existence in the year 1963. The institute is offering Bachelor of Technology courses in disciplines like civil engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering & management, mechanical engineering, information technology, computer engineering and electronics & Communication engineering. The institute is also offering M. Tech courses in all these branches except in civil engineering, industrial engineering & management, information technology. It is offering Ph. D full-time and part-time courses in these disciplines of engineering and MBA as well. For B. Tech course, admission is done based on the AIEEE score of the students and for PG courses GATE score is taken into consideration.

Education College:

Government College of Education is actually a constituent unit of the Kurukshetra University, which was established in the year 1960. It is co-education institution offering Bachelor of Education course with affiliation from Kurukshetra University.

In addition to these government-run colleges, a number of other private colleges are also offering the best quality education in the city of Kurukshetra, thereby contributing to the educational development of the whole state of Haryana.
