Rohtak is one of the important cities in the state of Haryana and the city is acting as the educational hub of the state of Haryana since it is acting as the home for top business school of India being the Indian Institute of Management and top medical institution being the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences.

Medical College:

Pt. B D Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak came into existence in the year 1960 and the Medical Council of India has approved the college to admit 150 students per year for the MBBS course offered. The college is also offering courses in different disciplines like pharmacy, nursing and dental surgery. The college is offering MD/MS and diploma courses in several disciplines of medicine. The college is affiliated to Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences and admission to the MBBS course is done based on the performance of the students in the entrance examination conducted by this university.

Dental College:

Government Dental College is located in the same campus of the Pt. B D Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences and the college came into existence in the year 1981. The college is approved by the Dental Council of India to admit 60 students per year for the BDS course offered. It is also offering MDS course in the following disciplines for which intake capacity are also provided:

Prosthodontics – 1 student per year

Periodontics – 4 students per year

Pedodontics – 2 students per year

Orthodontics – 1 student  per year

Oral surgery – 2 students per year

Conservative dentistry – 3 students per year

Admission to the BDS course offered by the college is done based on the marks secured by the students in the Haryana Pre-Medical Entrance Examination/All India Pre-dental/Pre-medical Entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Examination in India.

Arts & Science Colleges:

Of the three government-run arts, science and commerce colleges, the first college is meant for both girls/boys, while the second college is meant for women students and the third college is meant for boys respectively. All these three colleges are affiliated to the Maharishi Dayanand University located in Rohtak. These colleges offer UG and PG courses in science, arts and commerce faculties in subjects like Hindi, English, Political Science, History, Economics, commerce, physics, chemistry, etc…
