HIT Kolkata, Heritage Institute of Technology, East Kolkata Township
The Heritage Institute of Technology was established in the year 2001 by a trust named Kalyan Bharati Trust. It is private engineering college which looks after its finances by itself. This college was established with a vision of promoting education, to nurture the pupils with the affluent cultural heritage that we have and to produce bachelors and masters which can satisfy the needs of the current industry. The college is associated to the WBUT and has the approval of the AICTE.
The management of the Heritage Institute of Technology lies in the hands of eminent industrialists. It is run by the selected educationists like Prof. Shambhu Nath Biswas who is the college principal and Prof. B. B. Paira who sits on the director’s chair. The student strength of the college is 2200 which is taken care of by the highly qualified and trained faculty whose number is around 128 and with them more than 112 other staffs are also there.
Infrastructure
The college has got one of the finest infrastructural facilities if compared with other engineering colleges. There is central library having more than 43000 odd books, well furnished laboratories, an auditorium, an audio-visual room, a seminar hall, e-library facility and video conferencing room. Hostel facilities for both boys and girls are provided. There is a lovely cafeteria and also a computer centre.
