Pattern of HP CMAT written examination:

The question paper consists of only objective type question and it is divided into four sections comprising of 50 questions in English Comprehension, Reasoning, Business Environment, Arithmetic Comprehension & Data Interpretation

Eligibility for MBA in colleges & universities in Himachal Pradesh:

Students from all over India can appear for HP CMAT. But 75% of the seats are reserved for students who had completed their graduation from Himachal Pradesh University, H.P. Krishi VIshwavidayalaya Palampur or Dr. Y. S.Parmar University of Horticulture and Foresty. The rest 25% of the seats are open to anyone from outside States.

The candidate has to clear the written test (HP CMAT) and then the shortlisted candidates would be called for a personal interview followed by a Group Discussion. Those selected can seek admission for MBA in Institute of Management Studies, HP University, Dr.Y.S.Parmar University and also in other private institutions affiliated to HP University.

Well, a candidate should have a 3 years bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognized institute with atleast an average score of 50% or equivalent CGPA. However SC/ST candidates need to secure only 45%. Even candidates who are in their final year of graduation can also apply. Also the candidate should not be more than 26 years of age as on 1st July 2011. But the SC/ST candidates get a relaxation of 3 years.

Selection Process:

Candidates are shortlisted based on their scores in the written test after which they need to appear for Personal Interview and Group Discussion. Final selection is based on weightages given to different factors. Written test is given a weightage of 50%, Past Academic Performance is given a weightage of 30%, the weightage given to Personal Interview is 10% and Group Discussion is given 10% of weightage. However additional marks are given for extracurricular activities, past academic record.
