Himachal Pradesh State Combined Management Aptitude Test (HP- CMAT) is the common entrance test conducted by the Institute of Management Studies under Himachal Pradesh Technical University for admission to their  Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. The exam is generally conducted in the month of May every year. There will be 200 questions, which have to be answered in 3 hours.  HP-CMAT is the only entrance test for MBA Programme for all universities as well as institutions in Himachal Pradesh. Results will be published two months after the exam.  Successful candidates will be sent a score card which has validity of one year.

Eligibility

Graduates with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in any discipline from a recognized university are eligible to apply for the test. Candidates belonging to reserved category require 45% marks in aggregate to appear for the test. Final year students can also apply for the examination. Maximum age limit is 26 years at the time of exam. Reserved category candidates, NRI and foreign candidates can avail age relaxation as per the government norms.

Exam pattern

Himachal Pradesh Combined Management Aptitude Test is designed to measure the candidate’s ability in

• English Comprehension
• Logical Reasoning
• Arithmetic Comprehension & data Interpretation and
• General Awareness in Business Environment.

Questions will be in multiple choice objective type formats. There will be 50 questions from each section. Each question carries one mark, and there will be negative mark of .25 for wrong answers. There will be specific cut off in each section. The duration of the test is 180 minutes. Candidates who have qualified the written test will receive a score card which is valid for one academic year.  Admission to the management courses will be based on the composite scores obtained in the written test, group discussion and personal interview.

Application Process

Application form along with the prospectus of HP-CMAT can be obtained from respective institute by a cash payment of Rs. 500/- or by post by sending a demand draft of Rs. 550/- taken in favor “Director, Himachal Pradesh University Business School”, payable at Shimla. Reserved category students are required to pay Rs. 250/- for the application form. Candidates are required to submit duly filled application to respective institutes along with supporting documents. Candidates are advised to visit the official website of the University for knowing details about filling the application form and selection of examination centers.
