IBPS CWE for Clerk 2013 – Eligibility and Selection Process

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has invited applications for Common Written Examination (CWE) for clerical staff recruitment in participating banks. Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University/institute is the qualification required. Age of the applicant must be between 20 and 28 years. IBPS CWE comprises of objective model questions from topics like reasoning, numerical ability, and general awareness.

Eligibility Criteria for IBPS CWE for Clerk 2013

Bachelor’s degree in any stream is the qualification required for attending the CWE for clerk conducted by IBPS. This qualification must be obtained from any of the recognized University/institute. Operating/working knowledge in computer systems is necessary to apply. Candidates should hold Degree/Diploma/Certificate in computers operations/applications/language. Otherwise they should have studied Computer Science/Information Technology as a subject either at school/college level. Proficiency in the official language of the state/UT (where the candidate applied for the job) is desirable. Age of the applicant must be between 20 and 28 years. Category wise concession in age will be given for reserved category candidates. OBC category candidates are given with 3 year age relaxation where as SC/ST candidates are given with 5 year relaxation in age. Persons with disability can expect 10 years concession in the upper age limit.

Selection Process for IBPS CWE for Clerk 2013

Selection of candidates to clerical cadre posts in 19 nationalized banks is done on the basis of CWE conducted by IBPS and interview conducted by the participating organizations. Those who qualify the written test are intimated with the date of interview. Weightage given for written test and interview (during the selection process) is in the ratio of 80:20. Maximum marks allotted for interview is 100. Aspirants must score at least 40% marks in the interview to qualify. In case of SC/ST/OBC candidates the required percentage of marks is 35.

Common written exam is conducted in online mode. Questions for the test are asked from the following topics.

  • Reasoning
  • English Language
  • Numerical Ability
  • General Awareness
  • Computer Knowledge

Each section carries questions for 40 marks to make the total marks of the CWE to 200. Candidates need to obtain a minimum cut off score in each of these sections to qualify. Wrong answers are given with penalty. One by fourth of the assigned marks (for each question) are deducted for every wrong answer. IBPS has the authority to modify the structure of the exam.
