This exam is held by Indira Gandhi National Open University for admitting candidates to its B.Ed programme. This programme is accredited by National Council for Vocational Training and will have duration of two years. This exam primarily targets the candidates aspiring for a career in teaching.

Structure of IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Exam

Objective type test will be conducted with two parts, Part A and Part B. Total questions including Part A and Part B will be hundred with equal marks for each of them. Part A includes the following subjects given below with their number of questions.

  • General English Comprehension or General Hindi Comprehension - 10 Questions
  • Logical & Analytical Reasoning - 20 Questions
  • Educational & General Awareness - 25 Questions
  • Teaching-Learning & the School - 25 Questions

Part B includes technical subjects based on qualifying exam with 20 marks.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need graduation in any discipline with fifty percent marks to apply for this test. Also they should need two years teaching experience from a school recognized by Central government or State government or Union Territory. Permanent or temporary teaching experience will be considered. Age specification will not be considered to apply for this test.

How to Apply?

By paying Rs.500/- cash at the university counters, candidate can receive the application form with prospectus directly. If they prefer to receive it through post, then DD of Rs.550/- should be taken in the name of IGNOU. It should be payable at New Delhi or any city where the concerned Regional Centre is situated. On the reverse side of the DD, write name and address of the candidate and sent it to the concerned regional centre or the address given below

Another option will be given to the candidate to obtain application form through website www.ignou.ac.in. Then they can sent it as filled form to the concerned authority along with the DD of Rs.550/- by Speed post or Registered post

How to fill the Form?

There will be instructions in the information brochure for filling the form. Read those instructions before filling the form. Use only English block letters or numerals to fill the boxes with ball point pen (black). Don’t make any wrinkles or marks on the form. Stapled forms will not be considered as acceptable ones. While entering letters inside the boxes, do not touch the lines of the boxes. Recent passport photograph need to be affixed on the form, which should be attested by Gazetted officer. Try not to wet or tear the form.

Result can be checked through IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in. Concerned regional centre will also inform the candidate about the results.

Score Validity

Validity of IGNOU score will be for twelve months.
