Infrastructure facilities in Siddaganga Institute of Technology are one of the reasons for their distinction as one among the ten institutions across the country. Main infrastructure facilities arranged at the institute are Computer and Internet Facilities, Library and Information Centre, Language Laboratory, Hostel Facilities, Sports, and Health Centre.

Infrastructure Facilities in SIT

Computer and Internet Facilities

The institute has 29 computer centres that houses around 1600 systems. In addition of this, there were 250 separate computer systems (desktop computers) for faculty members. All the computer systems are configured with latest configurations and are interconnected using internet facility. The internet, which is of 14 Mbps capacity, connects all the computer centres and the individual computers in hostels and departments.

Library and Information Centre

The library of the college is functioning in a three storeyed building within an area of 1533 Sq Mts. The library is partitioned in to sections of book bank and SC/ST Book Bank. Out of the total collection of 1, 01,554 books in the library, 30,829 volumes are included under book bank and around11, 574 volumes under SC/ST book bank. The book collection includes Dictionaries, Text Books, Encyclopedias, and Hand Books. The library is computerized and has a seating capacity of 450.

Language Laboratory

A ‘Language Laboratory’ is included inside the laboratory for improving the communication skills of the students. There were 60 digital computers arranged over there with self learning software like DIGITAL MENTOR. This software helps students in self preparation for competitive exams like GMAT and GRE. Updating of software is done periodically and is extended by VTU with addition of 85 user license.

Hostel Facilities

SIT has 5 boys’ hostels and 2 girl’s hostels that together can accommodate around 1950 students. Hostels are housed with the following main facilities.

Auditorium and Guest House

There facilitated a two floor auditorium in the institute with a seating capacity of 1000 people. It has a project room with a 35mm Film Projector. Apart from facilitating cultural, academic and other co-curricular activities, the auditorium is also used for training, and campus recruitment activities. Guests who visit the institute can stay in the guest house facilitated with 5 double rooms with attached bathrooms. Guest house is fully air conditioned and is used as a lounge for meetings.
