English is the contemporary subject of this era which is a must for all the individuals of this era. English being global language is mandatory for all the students to learn. This is why English has been included in the curriculum of every state boards as well as central board from the very beginning. The students are made familiar with this language so that they get benefitted in the long run. This is the reason why Jharkhand Board also includes English paper in their list of subjects alike other Boards of Education.

Division of Paper:

The English paper has been categorized into four sections namely, A, B, C and D. Section A comprises of questions pertaining to reading and comprehensive ability. The second section, B, is consecrated to paragraph and letter writing. The next section, C, is dedicated to grammar based questions. And finally, the last section deals in questions from prose.

Time allotted for the Examination and the marks:

The maximum obtainable score is 100 with a three hour time allotted.

Paper Pattern:

General instructions are given at the top of the page that mentions all questions to be compulsory ones. The four sections of the paper carry different domain of questions. Section A carries 15 marks with questions based on two reading comprehensions. Section B is of 20 marks containing two paragraph, 40 and 80 words, and 1 letter writing of about 100 words. Section C holds questions from grammar with a total of 15 marks. Section D is subdivided into groups consisting of questions from Prose, Poetry and Supplementary Reader each 20, 10 and 20 marks respectively. There are choices in few questions of section D.
