JMET 2011
Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is an entrance exam for admission in to Post Graduation management courses in IITs for students having an engineering degree or Master’s degree in science. Since the management courses in IITs are only for engineering and Post Graduate Science students, the management courses are specially designed for them. This entrance test includes multiple type questions and also has negative marking foir each wrong answer.
Institutes under this examination:
The students have to first clear the entrance exam and then have to face various tests which are conducted by the respected institutes. Indian Institute of Technology is amongst the well recognized and highly demanding institutes of India. Though IITs are primarily premium engineering institutes but still due to brand name and credibility the management courses in IITs are also considered to be prestigious. Presently management courses in IITs are available in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Roorkee. In addition NIT calicut also uses JMET scores for admission in its MBA program.
More about the IIT’s:
All the IIT’s are providing all sorts of facility including hostels, library and gaming facility. They can also provoke the candidates to do the project works under various organizations. The institutes also provide computer and internet facility to its students.
Availability of forms:
The online application form will be available in the month of September and have to be submitted within the mid of October. The applicants have to fill the application form with all necessary instructions provided in the form.
Popularity of the exam:
This joint Management Entrance Test is considered as one of the toughest exam that candidates have to face for building their upcoming future. Every year candidates are filling the forms and giving good response to the IIT’s. This exam is one of the best choices for the students to get India’s top IIT institutes. Interested candidates start their preparations either from well recognized centers or themselves. The exam includes conceptual and tricky questions. The students have to be very conscious while marking the correct answers.
All these institutes use JMET scores for short listing candidates who can apply for their management programs. Final selection depends on each institute’s own criteria which include Personal Interview, Group Discussion, 10th, 12th and Graduation marks, Work experience etc.
Online Application for JMET 2011-2012
Application for JMET is through an online procedure. A candidate has to apply online through IIT website where he/she is required to fill various details. After that the candidate has to take the printout of that form and send it to IIT Kanpur (organizing institute) along with a demand draft and other documents.

Date of JMET: mid of 2nd week of December, 2011
Commencement of online application: 1st week of September, 2011
Last Date for online application: 2nd week of October, 2011
Last Date for receipt of printed form: mid week of October, 2011
Announcement of results: first week of January, 2012
Eligibility Criteria for JMET Exam:
In order to be eligible for admission through JMET a candidate should have an engineering degree or a Master’s degree in Science with at least 60% aggregate, though there is a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST candidates. Candidates in their final year can also apply for provisional admission subject to the completion of their qualifying degree.

Master of Management (M. Mgt.)-IIT Mumbai
Pattern of examination:
JMET exam is of 3 hours duration having 120 objective questions in all from Verbal Communication, Logical reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. A candidate is required to perform well in all the four sections to be considered for admission. There is a negative marking of 1/4th marks in case of an incorrect answer.

as per our pune university they give certificate for only final year
i have 60 % in final year .. if i club all years marks and take out the avg then it will be 56.78…

i have completed my graduation as a mechanical engineer in the year 2008 with 58.27% and have graduated from SHIVAJI university KOLHAPUR. BUT as far as my degree is concerned over here the percentage alloted in final year is considered as the final percentage of degree which makes me to 61% as on degree certificate….my question regarding this is m i eligible to apply for JMET…
