JMET 2012
Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is national level admission test conducted for the aspirants of management students by IITs and IISc. The exam is specially designed for the candidates of Engineering and Masters in science. The eligible candidates of the examination get admission into the IITs or IISc for the post graduate program in management. These institutes are the prominent institutes of the country in the technical and science sector and hence the number aspirants taking this exam every year is larger.
Structure of JMET Test
The Joint Management Entrance test is a multiple choice objective type examination with 180 minute duration. The question paper constitutes of 120 questions and is divided into four sessions,
- Verbal Communication: 30 questions
- Quantitative Ability: 30 questions
- Logical Reasoning: 30 questions
- Data Interpretation: 30 questions
There will b negative marking for each wrong answer, 0.25 marks is deducted for each wrong response.

Eligibility Criteria
The requirement varies according to the institute the students are opting for. The common eligibility for appearing for the examination is four years engineering degree with 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10 from the recognized institute or university or the Masters degree in science. The M.Sc candidates must have 60% marks in the bachelors as well as the post graduate level. The candidate belonging to the reservation category will get needed relaxation in the minimum mark criterion. The candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination is also eligible to appear for the examination.
How to Apply?
The aspirants can apply for the exam by online only. The candidates are asked to visit the official website of the JMET and click ‘apply online’. The application fee cost Rs.750 for general and Rs.350 for the reservation group. The candidates can pay the fee either through core banking, by taking the challan from the official website and paying the fee in the ICICI bank, or through the credit or Debt card.
How to fill the Form?
The candidates can fill the form by the online mode. The instruction of filling the form is available in the website itself and the students are asked to follow the instruction. Before start filling the form you must have a digital photo and scanned signature of the suggested format ready for uploading in the system. There will be place for uploading photo and signature in the online form. The candidates are expected to provide only the valid and correct information. If you are belonging to the eligible reservation category you must also have a proof certificate in the PDF format for uploading. After filling the online form take the challan form the website and pay the fee for the examination. You don’t need to send anything by post for applying for the examination and you should keep the institute and candidates copy of challan.

Study Plan
The candidates must be well prepared before taking the exam. The major point they need to know is the time management. They have to allot separate time for each session, according to their level competency in each area. After covering the entire syllabus they can refer the previous years paper and can take the mock test for practicing for the exam. The coaching centers and reference books are also helpful for the candidates. You can search internet for various study materials and take the exam with a confident attitude.
How and Where To Get the Results?
Each year the sole responsibility of conducted the exam is given to any one of the IITs or IISC. The candidates will get the result form the official portal of the conducting institute or from the official site of JMET.
Score Validity
The score will valid for one year and is applicable only at the time of admission.
