Karnataka public service commission conducts exam every year for selecting those who are eligible for various posts within the commission. The exam consists of preliminary exam and those who pass in the prelims are called for the main exam and interview. Selection is based on the main exam and the interview. For the main exam, General English, General knowledge and mathematics paper have to be answered by all the candidates. In addition to the compulsory subjects, the candidates need to answer any two out of the 12 optional papers. Psychology is one of the optional papers and is chosen by most candidates.

Things the candidates need to know before attempting psychology (Paper 1) paper

Psychology (paper 1) is one of the twelve optional papers. Candidates need to answer any two optional papers. The paper is totally descriptive, there are no objective questions. The question paper is printed in both English and Kannada. The candidate has to answer in the language as specified in the admit card.

How Many Sections Are There In The Paper

The paper consists of four sections A, B, C and D. Sections A, B and C are compulsory and all the questions in these sections have to be answered by the candidates. The candidates need to answer any three questions from section D. Section A consists of a question which is divided into four parts. Section B consists of 10 questions. Section C has 6 questions and D has five questions.

Questions in section A have to be answered in 50 words, B has to be answered in 100 words, C has to be answered in 150 words and D has to be answered in 300 words. The candidates are allotted 3 hours for answering the paper. Prior to the exam no reading time will be allotted and the seal should be broken only on the invigilator’s instruction. The paper is for a total of 300 marks.
