Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University came into existence in the year 1911 in the name of King George Medical College and the institution is acting as a forerunner among the medical institutions in the nation. The institution was converted as a medical university in the year 2002 on the 16th of September through an Act passed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The university is committed to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in biomedical sciences and it has established itself as a centre of excellence in tertiary level health care in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
In addition to offering medical education through different departments functioning under the university, it also offers dental education through various dental specializations functioning under the university.
