Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University came into existence in the year 1964 and it is a public university located in the state of Madhya Pradesh in the city of Jabalpur. The University Grants Commission has approved by the Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University and it is mainly involved in offering education in the field of agriculture and its allied disciplines. The university is also engaged in research activities and it is conducting trade shows and conferences for farmers living rural areas of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The university is offering education in the fields of agriculture and agricultural engineering.

Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University is offering education through its constituent colleges namely College of Agriculture located in four areas namely Ganjbasoda, Tikamgarh, Rewa and Jabalpur and College of Agricultural Engineering located in the city of Jabalpur. Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University admits students to the aforesaid courses on merit basis through counseling. In the process of admission of student to the aforesaid courses, candidates who have completed their UG courses from the same university in appropriate discipline will be given preference. For applying to the PG courses offered by Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, candidates will have to download the application form in prescribed format from the website of the university and will have to submit the duly filled in application along with all required documents and recent passport size photography to the office of the university.

Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University is working towards the mandate of serving as a centre for research and teaching in agriculture and allied disciplines. In addition to this, another mandate of the university is to disseminate technologies to organizations, extension personnel and farmers engaged in the development of agricultural through different extension activities.
