Santhosh University is operating from the National Capital Region (NCR) Delhi in the city of Ghaziabad. The strategic location of the university offers it a distinct benefit of being close to the city of New Delhi at a distance of just 16 kms and therefore it is easily approachable by air, road and rail. The head office of the university is located in Ghaziabad and registered office is located in the city of Chennai. The university came into existence in the year 1993 and it was established by the Maharaji Education Trust. The trust established the university with the onus of offering quality paradental, para medical, dental and medical education to a wide range of biomedical scientists and health professionals and other health related personnel through its paramedical, paradental, dental and medical colleges in Ghaziabad and Chennai. All the colleges running under this trust are supported by on campus super specialty teaching hospitals.

Within a few years of its inception, the Maharaji Educational Trust proved to be a unique model institution rendering state-of-the-art medical education. On review of the excellent performance of the trust, the Indian Government conferred the institution with Deemed University Status under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act under the name of Santhosh University on the 13th of June 2007. The minimum age requirement for getting into the UG Courses offered by the Santhosh University is 17 years and the educational qualification requirement is that candidates must have completed their higher secondary with PCB subjects with not less than 50% of MBBS and BDS, 45% for B. Sc Nursing and 40% for BMM, BOT and BPT Courses. Admissions to UG Courses is done based on the merit secured by the students in the Combined Medical Entrance Test conducted by the Association of Private Medical, Dental, Paramedical, Paradental & College of Allied Health Sciences.
