Sardar Patel University came into existence in the year 1955 by an Act of the then Province of Bombay and the university got approval from the University Grants Commission under section 2(f) in the year 1968.
The university has reached excellence in education with its service to the educational sector for more than 50 golden years. The university is offering education through nearly 70 affiliated colleges, a constituent college and 25 PG departments functioning under its jurisdiction. It is offering education under different faculties of education like education, law, home science, homeopathy, medicine, pharmacy, engineering, management, commerce, arts and science at advanced certificate, diploma, PG diploma and PG degree levels.
All the PG departments functioning under Sardar Patel University offer education under semester pattern of education, while the PG departments functioning under the social sciences and humanities faculties alone offer courses under annual system of education.
